Last night's Culture Night was an unforgettable experience! The energy, the flavors, and the rich traditions on display made for an incredible evening. These photos capture just the first half of the event, where our community explored beautifully curated booths and savored delicious dishes from around the world. The second half of the night was just as spectacular, as our talented students took the stage to perform 16 acts—singing, dancing, and sharing about their cultures in a truly inspiring showcase.
With such a vibrant and diverse student body, we love celebrating cultures, learning from one another, and immersing ourselves in meaningful traditions. A huge thank you to our Multicultural Club, World Languages teachers, students, and families for organizing and participating in this fantastic event—you made the night special!
Note: All food was enjoyed by those who signed a waiver, as it was lovingly prepared or bought by our students and their families. ️💙#PanthersRISE

We are incredibly proud of senior Kalena Parris for her outstanding achievements in the Northeast Florida Scholastic Art & Writing Awards! Kalena earned a highly coveted Silver Key for one of her pieces and received Honorable Mention for another—an impressive testament to her artistic talent and dedication. In addition to these accolades, she was awarded a $2,500 annual scholarship to The Jacksonville University Linda Berry Stein College of Fine Arts & Humanities. Congratulations, Kalena, on this well-deserved recognition! #PanthersRISE

Ms. Tomlin’s and Ms. Magloff’s Algebra students took math beyond the textbooks by applying quadratic equations to real-world scenarios! From tracking the path of a flying hot dog at the Super Bowl to measuring happiness based on cheeseburgers, students analyzed key features like intercepts, vertices, and symmetry. Through hands-on graphing and critical thinking, they strengthened their problem-solving skills and deepened their understanding of mathematical concepts. Great job, Panthers #PanthersRISE

Ms. Wilson and Ms. Smith's junior English students delved into the vibrant era 1920s as part of their study of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel, The Great Gatsby. Engaging in collaborative learning, students annotated texts to uncover the nuances of the Roaring Twenties, enhancing their understanding of the novel's context. Students partnered to tackle SAT-style questions to deepen their analytical skills, using textual evidence to support their interpretations and arguments. This exercise prepared them for standardized assessments and fostered critical thinking and a deeper appreciation of the literature. #PanthersRISE

AP Literature juniors and seniors in Mr. Schellhorn’s class stepped into the role of teachers as they designed and presented student-led lessons on their chosen Wisława Szymborska poem. Each student developed a comprehensive lesson plan with a learning target, central activity, discussion questions, and an exit slip, then delivered their lesson to their peers. This experience challenged students to analyze poetry critically, create engaging instructional activities, and lead meaningful discussions. Their ability to select compelling texts, organize purposeful lessons, and facilitate thoughtful conversations showcased literary mastery and leadership skills—a fantastic example of student-driven learning! #PanthersRISE

Congratulations to Ramon Morales – 2025 National Merit Finalist!
Ridgeview High School proudly celebrates Ramon Morales for being named a 2025 National Merit Finalist! This prestigious recognition places Ramon among the top high school students in the nation, a testament to his exceptional academic achievement, dedication, and hard work.
The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition that begins with over 1.3 million nationwide students who take the PSAT/NMSQT. Only about 16,000 students qualify as Semifinalists, and after a rigorous application process—including academic records, leadership roles, community involvement, and a personal essay—around 15,000 advance to Finalist status. This distinction opens the door to potential scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, colleges, and corporations nationwide.
Ramon, we are incredibly proud of your hard work and all that you have accomplished. Your dedication to excellence exemplifies what it means to be a Panther, and we can't wait to see all that you achieve next! #PanthersRISE

Students in Mr. Decubellis' World History classes are bringing nationalism to life through their "Create Your Own Country" project! Working in groups, they designed unique nations with names, flags, landscapes, locations, mottos, national symbols, currency, and language examples. To make the experience even more engaging, Mr. Decubellis randomly introduces real-world scenarios that challenge students to adapt, strategize, and problem-solve—such as a military coup, a declaration of war, a national budget deficit, an overwhelming show of force, or the need to negotiate trade with another country. This hands-on activity pushes students to think critically about what defines a country and how leaders navigate global challenges. By applying historical knowledge in a dynamic and creative way, students are developing collaboration, diplomacy, and problem-solving skills—all while having fun shaping their nations! #PanthersRISE

CTE Month Spotlight - Culinary
This month, Ms. Stevens' Culinary 1 students explored mother sauces, thickeners, and the stages of roux. They applied their knowledge by preparing a classic béchamel sauce for baked mac and cheese. Beyond cooking techniques, students honed essential time management, communication, and kitchen organization skills, ensuring the successful execution of their recipes. #PanthersRISE

CTE Month Spotlight - Medical Skills
Medical Skills students in Ms. Colón’s class applied their knowledge of the metric system used in hospitals through hands-on practice, measuring each other’s height in centimeters and weight in pounds before converting it to kilograms. They also assessed a baby doll's height, length, and head circumference, estimated a patient’s fluid intake in ounces before converting it to milliliters, and practiced reading graduated cylinders by measuring mock urine output using water mixed with yellow food coloring. #PanthersRISE

Ms. Bice’s first-period Vocal Ensemble students honed their skills in harmonization as they prepared for tomorrow night's Pre-MPA concert. By singing alongside peers with different voice parts, they refined their ability to maintain pitch, blend seamlessly, and confidently hold their own notes within the ensemble. This practice strengthened their musical ear and enhanced their overall performance. #PanthersRISE

Last week, our students competed at UNF in Academic World Quest, sponsored by the Foreign Affairs Council of Jacksonville. For the first time in school history, four teams were invited to participate! Competing against 50 teams, our students showcased their knowledge of international relations and current affairs. We are proud to share that all four teams placed in the top half of the competitors—a remarkable achievement!
We are incredibly proud of these students and their sponsor, Ms. Revis, for their dedication and hard work! #PanthersRISE

CTE Month Spotlight - Health Science
Ms. Colón’s Health Science Anatomy and Physiology students showcased their understanding of the respiratory system through hands-on learning. To visualize the structures, students created and labeled 3D models, engagingly reinforcing their knowledge of anatomy.
Taking their learning further, students explored lung capacity using balloons and measuring tape. They calculated key respiratory volumes, including Vital Capacity (maximum exhalation after a deep inhale), Expiratory Reserve (additional air exhaled after a normal breath), and Tidal Volume (air inhaled during a regular breath). This interactive approach helped students connect theoretical concepts to real-world physiology, deepening their comprehension of the human respiratory system. #PanthersRISE
