Yesterday, our teachers and instructional assistants participated in a powerful professional development session led by Ms. Johns on Common Behavior Language and Tier 1 Strategies. Together, we explored ways to create consistency, strengthen classroom culture, and support every student’s success.
A huge thank you to Ms. Johns, School Counseling Specialist with our OneClay Climate and Culture, for sharing her expertise and to our staff for always being committed to learning and growing for the benefit of our Panthers! #PanthersRISE

In Ms. Cannarella’s science class, students learned how germs invade our bodies and how our immune system responds to fight them off. To bring their learning to life, they created their own “germs” out of Play-Doh—making science both educational and fun! #PanthersRISE

Ms. Wilson’s Technical Theatre 1 students engaged in a creative rotation activity this week. Working in groups, they tackled thought-provoking questions that sparked critical thinking, assessed what they already knew, and set the stage for diving deeper into the world of technical theatre. This activity laid the foundation for the exciting work they’ll be building on all year long! #PanthersRISE

Our Panthers in Carpentry 1 took on the challenge of building Butterfly Houses and Castles! Along the way, they sharpened their skills in safety, following directions, and problem-solving. To top it off, they got to take their creations home to show off their craftsmanship! #PanthersRISE

Ms. Haynes’s students practiced their culinary and life skills last week by carefully following step-by-step directions to create a fun back-to-school treat—Pencil Wafer Cookies! From measuring and preparing to decorating and enjoying, the activity gave them the chance to practice sequencing, teamwork, and independence while ending with a sweet reward. #PanthersRISE

Ms. Henning’s reading students put their communication skills to the test last week. Working in teams without speaking, they relied on gestures and sounds to collaborate. Once they were allowed to talk, they quickly discovered how much easier it is to succeed with clear and specific direction, a fun and eye-opening lesson on the power of communication. #PanthersRISE

Mr. Ley’s government students dove into the landmark Supreme Court case Marbury v. Madison. Students analyzed the lasting impact of the decision and identified the parts of the Constitution or legislation it referenced. Working collaboratively, they brought their ideas to life in creative poster formats—showcasing both their critical thinking and teamwork skills! #PanthersRISE

Last week, Ms. Generazio’s art students worked together in groups to design creative posters about themselves. Each student had a specific role and responsibility, allowing them to contribute their talents while collaborating as a team. The project not only showcased their individuality but also encouraged communication, teamwork, and artistic expression. #PanthersRISE

Ms. Holt’s reading students began by reading a passage independently, then came together in small groups to dive deeper into the text. Through collaborative discussions, they tackled critical thinking questions, shared perspectives, and built on one another’s ideas. This activity not only strengthened comprehension but also encouraged communication, teamwork, and higher-level thinking. #PanthersRISE

Would you like to discover new perspectives and deepen your understanding through collaborative peer discussions? Join the RHS Speech and Debate Club. Our first meeting of the year will be this Friday, right after school, in Room 506. #PanthersRISE

Mr. Ley’s IB Seniors kicked off their first Approaches to Learning (ATL) project exploring imperial Japan. Working in groups, students researched and analyzed key concepts that contributed to Japan’s shift from isolationism to imperialism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Engaged discussions and thoughtful collaboration set the tone for a strong start to the year! #PanthersRISE

We are incredibly proud of our Bright Learners 4H Club! At the Clay County 4-H Award Banquet last night, the club was recognized for its outstanding work and contributions throughout the past year. Three of our members proudly represented the group alongside their dedicated leaders, Ms. Cannarella and Ms. Wilson.
Congratulations to our Bright Learners for shining bright! #PanthersRISE

In Period 6, Mr. Werner’s English seniors played a game called “Chuck the Cube,” where each toss revealed a chance to share their response to the first PearDeck question of the year: “What is the one thing you would like to be remembered for the most?” The activity sparked thoughtful conversation, personal reflection, and plenty of laughter along the way. #PanthersRISE

Ms. LaPierre’s students took on a fun teamwork challenge this week. Working in a circle and holding hands, they had to pass a hula hoop all the way around without breaking the chain. The activity required communication, problem-solving, and cooperation. Afterwards, the class reflected on how teamwork is essential, both in the kitchen and in life. #PanthersRISE

In Ms. Crews’s and Ms. Dupont’s 9th Grade English classes, students started the year by discovering what connects them. Using paper hexagons, each student shared personal interests, hobbies, and passions. Then, they linked their hexagons together to show the connections they have with their classmates. The growing web of hexagons became a visual reminder that, even in a new class, there’s always common ground and shared experiences. #PanthersRISE
