Mrs. Derousie’s Honors Biology students recently put their scientific skills to the test as they explored the microscopic world. Using microscopes, they carefully observed plant and bacterial cells and estimated their sizes, applying what they’ve learned in class to a real, hands-on investigation. This activity not only strengthened their understanding of cell structures but also provided them with valuable practice in measurement and analysis, key skills for future laboratory work. #PanthersRISE

RISE Scholar Spotlight - Spirit

Panther Pals kicked off their first meeting with lots of dancing, laughter, and new friendships! It was a fantastic start to building a fun and inclusive community. Inclusivity rocks! #PanthersRISE

Our English Language Learner students had a blast reviewing “WH” questions; the kinds of questions that start with words like who, what, when, where, and why. Using a board game, students practiced creating and answering these questions as their game pieces landed on different prompts. The activity pushed students to think critically, build vocabulary, discuss their answers in English, and finally write them in complete sentences. #PanthersRISE
Congratulations to RHS senior Lillian Michel!! She was selected to be one of FFCC’s Outdoor Featured Performers! We are proud of you, Lillian! #PanthersRISE

Ms. Michaels' 11th-grade ELA students dug deep into Act 1 of The Crucible! Working in pairs, they explored character motives, rhetorical strategies, and conflicts while backing up their analysis with direct textual evidence. This rigorous activity challenged students to think critically and connect their learning to bigger themes. #PanthersRISE

Congratulations to this week's RISE Staff of the Week!! These two exemplify what it means to be a Ridgeview Panther! #PanthersRISE

Celebrating Our First International Learners of the Month!
We are proud to honor our Inquisitive Explorers, students who embody curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. These learners ask thoughtful questions, think critically, and engage deeply with complex ideas and global issues.
Congratulations to:
Maria Rodriguez (9th, Pre-AICE/IB)
William LuPau (10th, Pre-AICE/IB)
Jude Archambault (11th, Cambridge AICE)
Lilliana Altic (12th, IB)
You exemplify what it means to be Engaged (Cambridge AICE) / Inquirers & Thinkers (IB), and we are so proud of you! 💙🐾 #PanthersRISE

Ms. Fortner’s Chemistry students conducted a chromatography experiment to explore how mixtures can be separated into their individual components. Using this laboratory technique, students practiced identifying how substances move at different speeds through a medium, revealing unique chemical properties such as solubility and polarity. Hands-on labs like this help our Panthers see science come to life while building essential problem-solving and analysis skills! #PanthersRISE

Walk-throughs are always the best when students stop me to have a conversation about what they are learning! Their pride in sharing their work is the highlight of my day. #PanthersRISE

What a smelly day in Honors Biology! Ms. Derousie’s students kicked off a 4-week lab investigation by taking a big whiff of cabbage. This hands-on experiment will test how lactic acid fermentation changes the pH of cabbage over time. From gathering data to analyzing results, students will be diving deep into the science of fermentation, critical thinking, and real-world applications of biology. #PanthersRISE

Mr. Zaner’s Business Management & Law and Business Ownership students pitched their plan to Principal Murphy and AD Stutz for RISE Outfitters, our future student-run school store. They’ve formed cross-functional teams for every part of development—product sourcing & merchandising, marketing & branding, finance & budgeting, operations & logistics, store design & layout, and data/market research.
Launched on day two of school, teams have been measuring the space, brainstorming, and conducting market research to refine the proposal. Authentic CTE learning in action—entrepreneurship, collaboration, and Panther Pride. #PanthersRISE

To celebrate Constitution Week, our Government students had a special opportunity to learn from Tara S. Green, Clay County Clerk of Court and Comptroller. Ms. Green shared an overview of her department’s responsibilities and led an engaging discussion on the U.S. Constitution, highlighting the importance of our 6th Amendment rights. This partnership connected classroom learning to real-world expertise, helping students see how the Constitution is applied in their daily lives.
We’re grateful for community partners like Ms. Green who enrich our Panthers’ learning experiences! #PanthersRISE

Ms. Brown’s Speech & Debate students delivered their first introductory speeches of the year, and they were powerful. From trials to triumphs, our Panthers shared personal stories with poise, structure, and heart. We saw eye contact, pacing, and audience awareness in action—proof that confidence grows when students own their voice. #PanthersRISE

Last week, Culinary students took advantage of the block schedule to dive into full-meal cooking. Each class voted on their dish of choice—3rd period created homemade pasta with Alfredo sauce, while 5th period prepared a hearty chicken and sausage gumbo. Students enjoyed the opportunity to cook a complete meal from start to finish, showcasing both their skills and teamwork in the kitchen. #PanthersRISE

RHS Scholar Spotlight - Responsibility

Mr. Ley’s IB Senior History students dove into primary source analysis with a creative twist! Using documents tied to a legendary 1977 senior prank, students put on their historian hats to determine “who done it?” They examined authorship, context, and corroboration between sources, then crafted arguments supported by evidence. The lively debates and critical thinking on display showed how history comes alive when students investigate, question, and justify their ideas with proof. #PanthersRISE

Dr. Wells’s Pre-IB and AICE Biology classes recently completed their first lab of the year—the Gummy Bear Lab! Students worked in groups to test how gummy bears react when placed in different solutions, applying their knowledge of the Scientific Method every step. From setting up experimental procedures to identifying variables and practicing graphing skills, this lab gave students a fun and memorable way to connect science concepts with real-world experimentation. #PanthersRISE
