A big shoutout to our outstanding Ridgeview High students who volunteered at Tynes Elementary for their annual Fall Fest! Our students helped make the event a success by assisting with games and activities and spreading plenty of Panther spirit throughout the evening.

We’re so proud of their willingness to give back and support our younger Panthers; this is what community and leadership look like! #PanthersRISE

School Counselor Ms. De La Cruz and Advanced Programs Coordinator Mr. Richardson visited our ESOL students this week for a special recognition and learning session focused on graduation goals and RISE values. Students were celebrated for their hard work and perseverance, then participated in a short lesson about graduation requirements and the pathways available to help them reach their goals. They also strengthened their listening and comprehension skills as Mr. Richardson read aloud and led a meaningful discussion.

We’re so proud of these students for their continued growth, dedication, and commitment to success! #PanthersRISE

Mr. Bruchak’s upper-level Carpentry students are taking their skills to the next level with the CNC machine, learning to design and create custom wood signs. After experimenting with several approaches, they discovered the best techniques to make letters and objects truly stand out, a great lesson in precision, patience, and problem-solving!

Students have now moved on to the staining phase, adding depth and detail to their work. Next up, they’ll be designing their own personalized signs, applying their craftsmanship and creativity to the fullest. #PanthersRISE

Our dedicated Earth Club members spent two Saturdays, one in September and this past one, volunteering at Crosby Sanctuary. They trimmed plants around the entrance, cleared and maintained trails, cared for native garden plants, and picked up trash from the swamp area. Their ongoing efforts show true Panther pride and a deep commitment to protecting our local environment. #PanthersRISE

Mr. Suarez’s HVAC students had the opportunity to hear from guest speaker Ruben Velasquez, who joined virtually to share insights about the North Florida Sheet Metal JATC Apprenticeship Program. Students learned about career opportunities, training options, and the valuable skills needed to succeed in the HVAC and sheet metal industries. Experiences like this help our Panthers connect classroom learning to real-world careers and see the many paths available in the skilled trades! #PanthersRISE

Our General Music students had the incredible opportunity to experience the Jacksonville Symphony last week! Held at the beautiful Jacoby Symphony Hall, the concert introduced students to the power and excitement of live symphonic music through the Symphony’s Preludes program. This 45-minute concert showcased all sections of the orchestra. It connected beautifully to what students are learning in the classroom, helping them see (and hear!) how music tells stories, sparks imagination, and brings people together.

A special thank you to Ms. Bice, Ms. Manis, and peer mentor Alicia Quezada for accompanying our students and helping make this memorable musical experience possible! #PanthersRISE

Representative and Florida House Speaker Designate Sam Garrison stopped by Ridgeview on Friday to personally thank our students for their outstanding performance of the National Anthem at his recent ceremony. He spent time getting to know each of them, asking about their future goals, answering their questions, and sharing insights about his work in public service. To make the visit even sweeter, he brought donuts to share as a token of appreciation for their talent and school spirit.

We’re grateful for his continued support of our students and his genuine interest in their learning, leadership, and success. #PanthersRISE

Last week, in honor of National School Bus Safety Week, we celebrated the incredible bus drivers and assistants who safely transport our Panthers each day. Their commitment, patience, and care ensure that learning begins and ends with a smile. They each received a small token of appreciation as a reminder that we’re thankful for them always “going the extra mile” for our students. Thank you for all that you do to keep Ridgeview rolling! #PanthersRISE

Ms. Yancey’s Physical Science students are exploring the properties of matter, including concepts like mass, volume, and density, calculated by dividing mass by volume. When a classmate returned after being out, his peers took the lead in teaching him the lesson. The experience gave everyone a chance to review, explain, and reinforce their own understanding in the process. #PanthersRISE

In Ms. Fortner’s Honors and Pre-IB/AICE Chemistry classes, students brought science to life through a flame test lab using Bunsen burners and various metal solutions. When heated, the electrons in each metal moved from their ground state to an excited state, then released energy in the form of vibrant light as they returned to ground state. Each colorful flame revealed a unique spectral signature for the metal ion tested, allowing students to connect abstract atomic theory to real-world observation. #PanthersRISE
