RISE Scholar Spotlight - Responsibility

Students in Ms. Marrero’s Spanish 2 and AICE 2 classes celebrated Día de los Muertos by decorating remembrance stones dedicated to loved ones, pets, or admired figures who have passed away. As part of this cultural exploration, students expressed their emotions and described their creative process entirely in Spanish, using familiar vocabulary and new descriptive phrases. Through this experience, they deepened their language skills while connecting the rich traditions, symbols, and meanings of Día de los Muertos to their own lives. #PanthesRISE

Last week, Ms. Dobson, our amazing Mental Health Counselor, set up an interactive table during lunch to engage students in meaningful activities focused on living drug-free and supporting mental wellness. Students signed puzzle pieces with positive messages, grabbed resources promoting self-care, and learned how every choice plays an essential role in building a healthy, connected community.
Thank you, Ms. Dobson, for creating such an impactful and engaging experience for our Panthers! #Pa nthersRISE

Students in Ms. Stevens’s Culinary 1 class participated in their first kitchen lab, where they baked cupcakes and made buttercream frosting from scratch. The lab served as an engaging introduction to the culinary workspace, allowing students to practice essential skills—time management, communication, teamwork, and recipe execution — while becoming comfortable in their new kitchen environment. #PanthersRISE

FCCLA members took charge at the Florida Fall Leadership Conference this October! Held in Melrose, the event saw members develop their leadership potential in specialized workshops led by the State Executive Council and put their teamwork skills to the test during an exciting field day. #PanthersRISE

Ms. Eaton’s students transformed their study of poetry into a live performance, analyzing works by Pablo Neruda, Gwendolyn Brooks, Theodore Roethke, and Lucille Clifton, and then creating short dramatic skits to capture each poem’s tone, mood, and meaning. Through close reading, collaboration, and creativity, students discovered how powerful interpretation extends beyond the page, showcasing the perfect blend of literary analysis, critical thinking, and expressive performance. #PanthersRISE

Ms. Michaels’s and Mr. Gonzalez's students put their critical thinking skills to work as they analyzed key quotes from Emerson’s Self-Reliance through four different lenses: philosophical, historical, social, and personal. Working in collaborative groups, students debated interpretations, justified their ideas with textual evidence, and reflected on how different perspectives shape meaning.
This lesson was a perfect example of rigorous, student-centered learning, filled with conversation, curiosity, and critical analysis. #PanthersRISE

Mr. Hutchinson’s Forensic Science students put their investigative skills to the test this week by examining how different materials and fibers burn. Through careful observation of flame color, smoke, odor, and residue, students learned how burn patterns can help identify unknown substances—just like forensic analysts do in the lab! #PanthersRISE
