Veterans Day
Mr. Ley’s Government students explored how government rationing during WWII connects to broader civic concepts such as individual rights, civic duty, engagement, and responsibility. After reading an article and analyzing guiding questions, students had the rare opportunity to examine authentic WWII-era artifacts from Mr. Ley’s personal collection! They handled items such as meat ration tokens from Canada, U.S. war ration books, steel pennies, Hawaiian dollars, soldier pay records, and even autographed All-American Girls Professional Baseball League cards. This hands-on experience brought history to life and helped students understand how national policies impacted everyday citizens during wartime. #PanthersRISE

Mr. Ley’s Government and Government Honors students have been exploring the concepts of civic responsibility and civic duty as U.S. citizens in preparation for the Florida Civic Literacy Exam (FCLE). Each student researched a key component of citizenship—such as Voting & Elections, Rights & Responsibilities, Community Engagement, Understanding the Constitution, or Rule of Law and created a poster to showcase their findings. This project allowed students to focus on areas of personal interest while engaging in one-on-one discussions to deepen understanding. #PanthersRISE
