Our Media Specialist, Ms. Pittman, recently hosted an engaging Book Tasting experience for Mr. Werner’s 11th-grade English students. Students rotated through curated tables, sampling a variety of genres and titles while reflecting on their interests and discovering new authors, much like choosing from a tasting menu. This creative approach encouraged student choice, curiosity, and meaningful conversations about reading, reinforcing a love of literacy in a fun and memorable way. RISE Scholar of the Week Spotlight - Excellence

Ms. Pollard’s Environmental Science students put their knowledge into action by exploring how energy moves through an ecosystem. Using their understanding of feeding relationships, students identified the sun as the ultimate energy source, classified organisms as producers or consumers, and constructed accurate food webs to demonstrate the flow of energy. This hands-on learning experience strengthened critical thinking and helped students make meaningful connections between concepts and real-world ecosystems. #PanthersRISE

Students in Mr. Nesi’s art class dived into a Line and Texture Inquiry Project, exploring how artists use line, texture, and intentional design choices to create meaning and visual impact. Through guided discussion, analysis, and hands-on creation, students examined artistic techniques, asked thoughtful questions, and applied their learning to their own original artworks. This process-centered approach encourages creativity, critical thinking, and creative voice while helping students understand how design elements work together to tell a visual story. #PanthersRISE

Last Wednesday, our faculty came together for a meaningful PLC led by Ms. Metz and Ms. Randall from the District Office, focused on strengthening instruction through intentional grouping and directed discourse. Teachers explored practical, flexible strategies for forming purposeful groups based on learning goals and student needs, sparking rich discussion around how thoughtful grouping can elevate classroom conversations, ensure every student has a voice, and support deeper, more rigorous learning across content areas. #PanthersRISE

Last week, Ms. Wilson’s theatre students kicked off the new year by grounding themselves and setting meaningful intentions. This practice supports self-expression and character development in theatre while also strengthening essential life skills such as reflection, confidence, and personal growth. Students created both group and individual intentions, including writing a letter to their future selves to be opened on the last day of school, a powerful way to begin the year with purpose and vision. #PanthersRISE

Ms. Johnson’s Health Science students explored vital signs through hands-on, real-world practice, learning how to accurately measure pulse, respiration, and temperature. By working collaboratively and applying clinical skills, students built confidence, attention to detail, and a deeper understanding of how vital signs support patient care and medical decision-making—an excellent example of authentic learning in action at Ridgeview. #PanthersRISE
