Congratulations to our September School of the Month winners, Fleming Island High School and McRae Elementary School!

September’s theme was Building Connections, recognizing the importance of strong relationships among students, families, staff, and the community. From fostering a welcoming school environment to creating meaningful opportunities for students and families to connect, these schools are helping strengthen the OneClay community.

Thank you to our partners at Community First Credit Union for their continued support of our schools and for helping us celebrate the incredible things happening across our district!

Don't forget to place your vote for October! October’s theme is Showing Up Strong: Celebrating your school's commitment to attendance, engagement, and showing up ready to learn every day. Help us recognize the schools making a difference by casting your vote before voting closes on October 22.

On November 3, Clay County voters will consider the renewal of the existing One Mill ad valorem funding for four years (July 1, 2027 – June 30, 2031).

Because this measure is a renewal of the existing operating millage, it continues current funding without increasing tax rates. Revenues are strictly dedicated to two operational priorities:

School Safety: Funding law enforcement contracts for campus officers.

Employee Compensation: Providing competitive pay to retain and attract quality teachers and support staff.

All expenditures are subject to review by an independent Citizens’ Oversight Committee. Visit oneclay.net/renewal for more information.

🛒 Hands-On Learning in Action! 🍳

Mrs. Solis’s class has been hard at work bringing a classroom lesson to life!

First, our students took a vote to pick a delicious recipe. Next, they put their math and planning skills to test by building a full shopping list, researching prices, and creating a working budget. Then came the main event—a trip to Walmart to shop for all their ingredients! 💵📝

Now, the best part: we are in the kitchen cooking up the recipe they chose! We love seeing our students build practical life skills, teamwork, and independence.🌟👏

🥕 Hands-On Learning in Mrs. Giddon’s Class! 🦴

Who knew carrots could teach us so much about human anatomy? Today, Mrs. Giddon’s class got creative with a hands-on lab using carrots to model different types of bone fractures!

Students snapped, twisted, and crushed their "carrot bones" to explore various mechanisms of injury—from transverse to spiral and greenstick fractures—and learned the key steps needed to properly treat and manage each one.

It was a great day of critical thinking, interactive medicine, and practical learning. Way to go, future healthcare pros! 🩺✨

📐 Mathematical Perseverance in Action! 🧠✨

A big shout out to the students in Mrs. Madaychik’s class this week! Geometry proofs are no easy task, but our students showed incredible grit and teamwork as they collaborated to write proofs about segment relationships.

Students were bouncing ideas off one another, working through challenging steps, and persevered through this challenge. Way to think like true mathematicians! 👏✏️
