Ms. Derousie’s Pre-IB/Pre-AICE Chemistry students took their learning beyond the textbook by designing and carrying out a hands-on lab to determine the concentration of acetic acid in unknown vinegar samples. After running their experiments and collecting data, students collaborated to analyze results and discuss possible sources of error, just like real scientists do! It was a full day of critical thinking, teamwork, and meaningful exploration. #PanthersRISE

Could you have survived the Great Depression? Ms. Ryan’s government students recently put themselves to the test through a cross-curricular budgeting simulation that blended history, math, and economics. Each student rolled the dice to determine their monthly income, then navigated seven months of financial surprises—some helpful, others not so much. From unexpected expenses to small windfalls, they tracked their budgets and made tough decisions about how to spend or save. At the end of the game, students reflected on whether they stayed afloat or fell into debt, and if they could keep their homes. A powerful, hands-on way to bring the past to life! #PanthersRISE

Our students had an incredible time exploring the fair during AgrAbilities Day! This field trip allowed our Panthers to learn about agriculture through hands-on experiences and engaging exhibits. From seeing farm animals up close to exploring the role of agriculture in our everyday lives, it was a day packed with discovery, fun, and fresh fair food too! We’re so grateful for opportunities like this that bring learning to life outside the classroom. #PanthersRISE

Our amazing NHS and Interact students have been hard at work, spreading kindness and creativity in our community! They designed and decorated beautiful tote bags for residents at the nursing home they have adopted, crafted adorable teddy bears from hand towels to be given to children at fire stations, and made colorful paper tulips to add an extra touch of cheer. Some teddy bears and tulips will be placed in the tote bags to brighten the day of those who receive them. We are grateful to the Green Cove Springs community member who generously donated many of the materials through Facebook and our supportive Rotary Club sponsors. #PanthersRISE

Our RHS Health Academy students recently partnered with MHS CNA students for a heartwarming experience at the fair! Each pair of students was matched with a senior from Penny Retirement Community, helping ensure they could safely enjoy all the fair had to offer—from the art and animals to the Old Florida exhibit and, of course, the food! Thanks to this incredible collaboration, the seniors had a memorable day, and our students got to explore the fair themselves for a bit afterward. As you can see in the last photo, they made the most of their time! #PanthersRISE

Forensic Science students investigated three different soil samples using two distinct methods as part of their soil texture analysis unit. First, they applied the touch method, guided by a flow chart, to assess the texture. Next, they utilized a water column technique: after shaking the soil sample in water, distinct layers of sand, silt, and clay formed. By calculating the percentage of each component, students used a soil texture triangle to determine the soil type accurately. This hands-on investigation helped students understand how sand, silt, and clay proportions influence soil texture—an essential concept in forensic analysis! #PanthersRISE

Biology students explored the fascinating world of plant anatomy by dissecting flowers as part of the Plant Structure and Function unit. They carefully examined the various parts of the flower, identifying structures like the pistil, stamen, petals, and sepals, while exploring how each part plays a role in the plant's reproductive process. This hands-on activity helped students understand the intricate details of floral anatomy and how these structures support the plant's growth and reproduction. #PanthersRISE

Ms. Foley's Biology students explored plant structures and functions by examining leaf stomata and guard cells. These tiny structures, located on the underside of leaves, play a crucial role in transpiration and gas exchange. To observe them up close, students applied clear nail polish to the underside of a leaf, allowed it to dry, carefully peeled it off with clear tape, and placed the tape on a slide to view the imprint under the microscope. It was an engaging, hands-on way to see science in action and understand how plants breathe and regulate water! #PanthersRISE

Mr. Pike's Physics 1 students are lighting up their learning! In the Electric Current and Circuits module, students took part in a hands-on Launch Lab using batteries, wires, and lightbulbs to explore how electric current works. Their experiments discovered that a complete loop is essential for current to flow. Students recorded each trial by diagramming their circuits, emphasizing that "trial and error" is vital to scientific discovery. By documenting both successful and unsuccessful attempts, they learned that even negative results are valuable in science, because, as scientists know, we often learn the most from our so-called "failures." #PanthersRISE
