We recently shared a post from our Athletics page on how Mr. Bruchak and his carpentry students took on the challenge of restoring our signature "R" logo at the stadium, and how their hard work truly paid off! Without a pre-made form to follow, they turned this into an incredible hands-on learning experience. Using one of our gym logos as a template, they crafted a precise form that can now be used for future projects.
These students showcased their skills, teamwork, and dedication to Ridgeview from design to installation. We are proud of their craftsmanship and commitment to making our campus shine! #PanthersRISE

Ms. Thomas’s AICE General Paper students spent time gathering research and evaluating different perspectives on the question: Should animals be used for scientific or commercial testing? Working collaboratively, they analyzed claims and evidence before partnering up to write well-supported research responses. This activity strengthens their analytical and argumentative writing skills and encourages them to think critically about real-world issues. #PanthersRISE

Ms. Moore's US History students analyzed the impact of nuclear technology on global relations by engaging in close readings, vocabulary exploration, and political cartoon analysis. They first examined mutually assured destruction, deterrence, and proliferation by breaking down key terms and applying them in context. Through multiple readings, they identified vivid language, significant quotes, and historical context to summarize the main ideas of nuclear proliferation. To apply their learning, they analyzed a Cold War-era political cartoon, interpreting perspectives on nuclear strategy. Finally, students demonstrated their understanding by crafting concise responses using vocabulary terms, connecting history to modern global issues. #PanthersRISE

Ms. Yancey’s Biology students are diving into human development, focusing on the second trimester. After watching videos and engaging in discussions, they received a list of key developmental milestones during this stage. Students are now debating and sharing their opinions on the top five most significant activities they will record in their notebooks. This interactive approach helps deepen their understanding of fetal growth and development! #PanthersRISE

Students in Medical Skills and Health Science Foundations started their Infection Control unit with a hands-on lesson using GloGerm to reveal how much effort is needed to remove microorganisms. To demonstrate how quickly germs spread, Ms. Colón applied GloGerm to two students, who then shook hands with three classmates each—only a few had no traces left! After seeing the results under a black light, students practiced proper handwashing techniques, a critical skill for infection prevention and the CNA exam. Check out the before-and-after photos of our Medical Skills freshmen as they discovered the challenge of thoroughly scrubbing away germs! #PanthersRISE

Our Culinary 3 and 4 students took their knife skills to the next level by transforming ordinary apples into elegant swan carvings! This hands-on lesson helped them refine their precision, creativity, and food presentation techniques. Under the guidance of Ms. LaPierre, students learned how to carefully shape each apple into a beautifully detailed swan, showcasing the artistic side of culinary arts. #PanthersRISE

RISE Scholar Spotlight - Spirit

The sun may have been hiding behind the clouds earlier this week, but that didn’t stop our seniors from shining! Despite some drizzle, the Class of 2025 showed up to celebrate the start of the last three months of their high school journey.
Through rain or shine, this class is ready to make the most of every moment.💙

Wrapping up their handwriting analysis unit, Ms. Foley’s Forensic Science students explored paper chromatography to analyze ink from four different black markers. This technique is commonly used in forensic investigations to compare pens found at a crime scene or suspect’s residence to the ink used on a questionable document. By separating the ink into its components, students saw firsthand how forensic experts analyze evidence to solve cases! #PanthersRISE

Shoutout to Mr. Zanone's Transition students—Cole, Ricardo, and Jonathan—for lending a helping hand! They assisted Ms. Obermiller in unloading a generous donation of weights for our school from the Educational Foundation. #PanthersRISE

Building on their handwriting analysis skills, Ms. Foley’s Forensic Science students took on a new challenge—forgery! In this activity, students attempted to forge each other’s signatures, then used the 12 characteristics of handwriting analysis to compare their actual signatures to the forgeries. By examining key details like slant, spacing, and pressure, they put their investigative skills to work to spot the fakes! #PanthersRISE

CTE Month Spotlight - Students in Ms. Robinson’s Early Childhood Education Level 2 class have been applying their lesson planning and early childhood development skills by creating and implementing lessons for Pediatric Dentist Awareness! Last week, they researched and designed age-appropriate lesson plans incorporating all five learning domains. This week, they are bringing those plans to life with engaging activities promoting dental health and wellness. We love seeing our students implement their learning and make a real-world impact! #PanthersRISE
