Creativity is always at the center of Ms. Rich’s art room. Students explore new techniques, experiment with materials, and discover how art can be a powerful form of self-expression. Whether sketching, painting, or working on design, Panthers are challenged to think in new ways and grow as both artists and individuals.
RHS sophomore Madison Nestved shared, “While in Ms. Rich’s Art class, I was exposed to so many things in Art that I never knew about. I saw my imagination and creativity grow. I learned that Art is a way of expressing myself.”
From building skills to unlocking imagination, Ms. Rich’s classes give students the tools to create and the confidence to share their voices through art. #PanthersRISE #CCDS Fine Arts #NationalArtsInEducationWeek

For the past 13 years, Ms. Rich has inspired Ridgeview students through her deep love of art and creativity. After beginning her career as a graphic artist for the State of Florida, she followed her passion for education, earning her teaching certificate and bringing her artistic expertise to the classroom. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Florida State University and an AA from Mercer University, she combines technical skill with a heart for teaching.
Ms. Rich believes, “The arts support the development of creativity and imagination in one’s mind. Especially for students with disabilities, the arts give a unique way of expressing oneself and developing critical thinking. Art challenges us to think and feel. Being exposed to what art has to offer helps to make a well-rounded person.”
At Ridgeview, her classroom is a place where creativity flourishes, voices are discovered, and art becomes a lifelong source of inspiration. #PanthersRISE #CCDS Fine Arts #OneClay #Nationalartsineducationweek

From IB and AP Art to 3-D Design and Photography, Mr. Nesi’s classes allow students to explore, create, and challenge themselves in new ways. Whether they are working with clay, experimenting with digital photography, or preparing portfolios for college credit, students learn that art is more than a class; it’s a way to express themselves and connect with the world around them.
In every section, Panthers are encouraged to refine their skills, push their creativity, and take pride in their growth as artists. With 33 years of experience as a Panther, Mr. Nesi has created a classroom where exploration and innovation thrive.
RHS Senior, Amy B., shared:
“I have never been sure of what my future would look like until I joined during my sophomore year. In this class, I have found a creative spark and a subject I can proudly say is my calling. Mr. Nesi is one of the most supportive and understanding instructors I have ever had, and without this program full of some of the best people I have met, I don’t know where I’d be.” #PanthersRISE #OneClay #CCDS Fine Arts

For 33 years, Mr. Nesi has been a proud Panther, inspiring generations of students through the power of art. He has spent his entire teaching career in the same classroom here at Ridgeview, first as part of the Junior High and now the High School, building a legacy of creativity and connection.
Mr. Nesi earned his BA in Visual Arts with K–12 Art Education Certification from Dowling College after beginning his studies at LIU–South Hampton. Over the years, he has guided students across various art forms, including IB, AP, 3-D design, and photography, encouraging them to view art not just as a subject but as a means to think, create, and express themselves.
Thank you, Mr. Nesi, for more than three decades of inspiring Panthers to find their creative voice! #NationalArtsinEducationWeek #PanthersRISE #OneClay #CCDS Fine Arts

If you think you may qualify, or could before graduation, see your fine arts teacher or counselor to review your course history and next steps. Huge thanks to Mr. Gugel for presenting to our students. #PanthersRISE

Dr. Wells’s AICE Environmental Management classes wrapped up Unit 1 with a creative “Art Carousel” review activity! Students worked in groups of four, each taking on a major topic from the unit—the hydrologic cycle, atmosphere composition and structure, ecosystem relationships and energy flow, and photosynthesis, cellular respiration, and the carbon cycle. With just three minutes on the clock, students drew, labeled, and colored as much as they could before passing their paper to the next person to continue building on the ideas. After completing two rotations, the classes concluded with an art walk to showcase the collaborative results. #PanthersRISE

Band Showcase: National Arts in Education Week
From the first warm-up to the last note of rehearsal, Mr. Colón’s band students are immersed in the art of music-making. Whether preparing for performances, refining technique, or learning new pieces, students develop discipline, teamwork, and a love for music that extends far beyond the classroom.
Senior Janaya shared, “Growing up, I suffered from severe social anxiety, not knowing how to fit in. After joining band and soon after chorus, I created new friendships, fantastic memories, and a passion I would’ve never had without Mr. Colón and several other fine art teachers throughout the county. Joining the fine arts program changed my life by giving me confidence, self-appreciation, and accomplishments I never thought possible, and I’m forever grateful that I did it.”
Fellow senior Tristan added, “Music performance started out from curiosity, but quickly transformed into a passion. There is nothing else like seeing jaws drop in a marching band show or tears in a concert hall. Music has power and I’m glad to own some of it.”
Through student voices like these, it’s clear the Ridgeview Band program is more than music; it’s a space where Panthers find confidence, build lifelong friendships, and experience the transformative power of the arts. #PanthersRISE #CCDS Fine Arts #NationalArtsInEducationWeek

For the past 14 years, Mr. Colón has shared his passion for music education, with 12 of those years dedicated to Ridgeview High School. A proud Panther alumnus from the Class of 2003, he returned to his alma mater to inspire the next generation of musicians. After graduating from the University of North Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Brass Music Performance and a Minor in Professional Education, he combined his performance background with his commitment to teaching.
Mr. Colón believes, “Music is far more than performance—it is a universal language that inspires creativity, builds empathy, preserves culture, and strengthens community. In the classroom, music becomes a powerful tool for growth, well-being, and connection, giving students an outlet to express themselves while developing skills that last a lifetime.”
Through his leadership, the Ridgeview band program continues to thrive as a place where students grow as musicians, leaders, and Panthers. #PanthersRISE #CCDS Fine Arts #OneClay #NationalArtsInEducationWeek
