Oakleaf Junior High School is excited to announce a partnership with Who We Play For to provide life-saving electrocardiograms (ECGs) to our students for FREE.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest is the #1 killer on school campuses and in student-athletes, which is why we are taking a stand to care for the health and safety of our students. This screening will satisfy the Second Chance Act law requirement for student-athletes so they can legally play sports in the 2026-2027 school year.

Wear your best pink look and enter the Best-Dressed Contest in Room 308 during school or at the game. We will select one winner from each grade level, one Best-Dressed Teacher, and one Outstanding Pink Ensemble. Leveling up those language skills! In our Literacy Elective classes today, our 6th–8th graders tackled a fun creative challenge: writing short stories where almost every word starts with the same letter (Princess Penny played with a pile of pinecones).
This activity pushes students beyond obvious words, expands their vocabulary, and encourages clever ways to tell a great story.

Clay County District Schools is partnering with Who We Play For to provide IN-SCHOOL EKG SCREENINGS for eligible 8th grade student-athletes as they prepare to enter high school.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, Florida’s Second Chance Act requires students in grades 9–12 to complete an EKG screening the first time they participate or seek to participate in interscholastic athletics.
For our current 8th graders planning to participate in high school athletics, completing the screening now can help satisfy this requirement before entering 9th grade.
WHO WILL NEED AN EKG?
• Incoming 9th-grade student-athletes participating in high school athletics
• Students in grades 10–12 who are participating in interscholastic athletics for the first time
• An eligible EKG completed within the previous two years may also satisfy the requirement
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE SCREENING?
Results from the in-school EKG screening will be emailed to families within approximately 7–10 days.
Parents/guardians will be responsible for providing the EKG results, along with the completed EL1 physical form, to the student’s HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC DIRECTOR before the student participates in a high school sports tryout.

On November 3, Clay County voters will consider the renewal of the existing One Mill ad valorem funding for four years (July 1, 2027 – June 30, 2031).
Because this measure is a renewal of the existing operating millage, it continues current funding without increasing tax rates. Revenues are strictly dedicated to two operational priorities:
School Safety: Funding law enforcement contracts for campus officers.
Employee Compensation: Providing competitive pay to retain and attract quality teachers and support staff.
