Yesterday in Ms. Magpiong's 7th-grade science class, students modeled the rock cycle. They broke down starburst candies to model weathering a rock into smaller pieces called sediments, then took those sediments and stacked/compacted and cemented them together to model sedimentary rocks. Students then added heat and pressure so the sedimentary rock would turn into a metamorphic rock. Finally, they talked about how adding more heat would turn the starburst rocks into "magma" and when the magma cooled it would be an igneous rock.

Before the game, the Swamp Squad delivered our signature gift bags and snacks to the flag football players, then stayed to cheer them on as they defeated Wilkinson Junior High! Our volleyball girls also had a huge night, winning both of their matches! 🏈🏐

Our FACS Year 2 students went Through the Looking Glass today! ♠️♥️🐇✨
Working in teams, students planned and created themed charcuterie boards inspired by Alice in Wonderland and our class theme, “Through the Looking Glass.” From Queen of Hearts designs and “Eat Me” treats to playing cards, clocks, colorful sweets, meats, cheeses, fruits, and more, each group put its own creative spin on the challenge.
This project brought together food prep, presentation, teamwork, creativity, and planning—and the final boards were incredible!
We love seeing our students take a concept, make it their own, and turn it into something this fun. ❤️

Clay County District Schools is partnering with Who We Play For to provide IN-SCHOOL EKG SCREENINGS for eligible 8th grade student-athletes as they prepare to enter high school.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, Florida’s Second Chance Act requires students in grades 9–12 to complete an EKG screening the first time they participate or seek to participate in interscholastic athletics.
For our current 8th graders planning to participate in high school athletics, completing the screening now can help satisfy this requirement before entering 9th grade.
WHO WILL NEED AN EKG?
• Incoming 9th-grade student-athletes participating in high school athletics
• Students in grades 10–12 who are participating in interscholastic athletics for the first time
• An eligible EKG completed within the previous two years may also satisfy the requirement
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE SCREENING?
Results from the in-school EKG screening will be emailed to families within approximately 7–10 days.
Parents/guardians will be responsible for providing the EKG results, along with the completed EL1 physical form, to the student’s HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC DIRECTOR before the student participates in a high school sports tryout.

Community Collective Drive
Ms. Gay and Ms. Hube's classes are working on a collective drive to help our community.
Our goal is to help provide first responders with sensory items they can use when assisting individuals in our community who may have special needs or experience sensory overload during an emergency. Clay County has a large special needs population, and emergency situations can be especially overwhelming and frightening. Having something as simple as a fidget available can provide comfort, help ease anxiety, and create a bridge for communication between first responders and the individuals they are helping.
