Yesterday, Ms. Magpiong's science students participated in a fun, hands-on lab called “Cookie Plate Tectonics!” Using cookies, students created models to demonstrate the three types of tectonic plate boundaries: convergent, divergent, and transform.
This engaging activity helped students visualize how Earth's tectonic plates move and how that movement has shaped our planet over millions of years. It also reinforced our lessons on Pangaea, the ancient supercontinent, and how the continents gradually drifted into their present-day positions.
It was a great opportunity for students to bring science to life, connect classroom learning to real-world processes, and have a little fun along the way!

⚡ Charge Into Fire Safety! ⚡
It’s Fire Prevention Week, and this year’s theme is all about safe charging! As technology plays a big role in our everyday lives, we are reminding our OneClay community that safe charging is a superpower.
🔌 Plug in. Power up. Stay safe.
To keep our homes and schools safe, make sure you are using your 6 Charging Superpowers:
• Cheap charger? Don't chance it. Use the cord and charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.
• Soft surface? Hard pass. Charge on a hard, flat surface like a table, desk, or bare floor.
• Fully charged? Time to unplug. Unplug your device when it is fully charged.
• For tools and rides, charge outside. Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside when possible, and never block exits when charging.
• Feels hot? Stop using it. Stop using your device if it feels very hot, starts to swell, smells strange, leaks, smokes, or makes popping or hissing sounds.
• On a flight? Keep it in sight. Keep devices where you can see them while charging on an airplane, and tell a flight attendant if you notice a problem.

On Thursday, several members of our Gator Tales Yearbook staff attended Leonard’s Regional Fall Yearbook Workshop at First Coast Technical College in St. Augustine.
Students received hands-on training in photography, camera settings, Pictavo, yearbook design, and marketing—then headed outside to put their new photography skills into action! We cannot wait to see how they use what they learned to help uncover and capture this year’s Lakeside story.

Mrs. Bumpers students rocked at Genre Jenga today! Students took notes about the meanings, characteristics, and examples of the genres. Then, they drew cards from a deck to answer questions about what they just learned. After that, they had to pull the Jenga piece that matched the color of the card they drew.
