From October 1–14, we honor the history, achievements, rights, and contributions of individuals with disabilities while continuing to build a school community grounded in empathy, access, respect, and belonging.

Because inclusion is more than awareness—it is making sure everyone has a place in the story. 🐊

On Friday, we celebrated just a few of the hardworking custodians who help keep Lakeside safe, clean, and welcoming every day! 🧹✨

⚡ Charge Into Fire Safety! ⚡

It’s Fire Prevention Week, and this year’s theme is all about safe charging! As technology plays a big role in our everyday lives, we are reminding our OneClay community that safe charging is a superpower.

🔌 Plug in. Power up. Stay safe.

To keep our homes and schools safe, make sure you are using your 6 Charging Superpowers:

• Cheap charger? Don't chance it. Use the cord and charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.

• Soft surface? Hard pass. Charge on a hard, flat surface like a table, desk, or bare floor.

• Fully charged? Time to unplug. Unplug your device when it is fully charged.

• For tools and rides, charge outside. Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside when possible, and never block exits when charging.

• Feels hot? Stop using it. Stop using your device if it feels very hot, starts to swell, smells strange, leaks, smokes, or makes popping or hissing sounds.

• On a flight? Keep it in sight. Keep devices where you can see them while charging on an airplane, and tell a flight attendant if you notice a problem.

Learning beyond the classroom! 📸🐊

On Thursday, several members of our Gator Tales Yearbook staff attended Leonard’s Regional Fall Yearbook Workshop at First Coast Technical College in St. Augustine.

Students received hands-on training in photography, camera settings, Pictavo, yearbook design, and marketing—then headed outside to put their new photography skills into action! We cannot wait to see how they use what they learned to help uncover and capture this year’s Lakeside story.

Yesterday in Ms. Magpiong's 7th-grade science class, students modeled the rock cycle. They broke down starburst candies to model weathering a rock into smaller pieces called sediments, then took those sediments and stacked/compacted and cemented them together to model sedimentary rocks. Students then added heat and pressure so the sedimentary rock would turn into a metamorphic rock. Finally, they talked about how adding more heat would turn the starburst rocks into "magma" and when the magma cooled it would be an igneous rock.

The Swamp Squad showed up—and our Lady Gators showed out! 🐊💙🧡

Before the game, the Swamp Squad delivered our signature gift bags and snacks to the flag football players, then stayed to cheer them on as they defeated Wilkinson Junior High! Our volleyball girls also had a huge night, winning both of their matches! 🏈🏐

Great teams deserve great support, and we are proud to stand behind our Gators—on and off the court and field!
