Our precious campus piggy has officially found her forever home!

We are so happy to announce that she has been lovingly adopted by a DIS family—and apparently, she is already settling in like she owns the place.

Her new name is SALLY! And get this…her new family has ALREADY taught her how to SIT! From a mysterious pig wandering around campus to a well-loved, trained family pet…Sally’s glow-up is REAL.

We couldn’t have written a better ending to this little piggy’s adventure. Thank you to her new family for giving Sally a loving home!

Meet Our AMAZING First Grade Team! First grade is full of big learning, big growth, and LOTS of fun—and we have the perfect team to make it happen!

📖 Mrs. Pryor (not pictured) is our amazing team leader! She loves sharing her love of reading and bringing her expertise to help make first grade the best it can be.

🏊‍♀️ Ms. Harrison is a first-grade teacher by day and a lifeguard at the Dye-Clay YMCA in her spare time! She brings her energy and dedication to our first graders every day—and if you see her at the YMCA, be sure to stop by and say hello!

🏡 Ms. Hart is celebrating a BIG milestone—she recently purchased her very first house! She is also super close with her brothers, so we're sure they are pretty excited about her new place too!

✨ Mrs. Daniels is our cool, calm, and collected team member! No matter what the day brings, she always seems to keep her cool—and she brings plenty of Disney magic along with her love for all things Disney!

We are so lucky to have these wonderful ladies helping our first graders learn, grow, and make magical memories all year long!

🍎 Ms. Currin is hopping from third grade to fifth grade this year and bringing her experience, energy, and probably a little bit of “Wait…these kids are BIG now!”

🏈➗🔬 Mrs. Mineo loves football, math, AND science—which means she’s basically ready for touchdowns, equations, and experiments all in one day!

📖 Ms. Ives is taking on the important job of helping our fifth graders grow as readers and building those skills for their next big adventure.

💪 Ms. Clark is joining us this year as a classroom teacher after taking a much-needed break, and we are so happy to have her back! When she’s not helping students learn, she enjoys working out—so fifth grade may be keeping her just as busy!

She may not be pictured with every team, but she is definitely a part of EVERY team!

Our wonderful Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Senters, is an integral part of our school family. From supporting students and teachers to helping families, offering encouragement, solving problems, and somehow being EVERYWHERE she is needed—she truly helps keep our school running smoothly!

Now, I tried to get a picture of Mrs. Senters with every team… but apparently there are only so many hours in the day. So, I did what any reasonable person would do—I Photoshopped her into a few team pictures!

Our 6th graders kicked off the school year with a fun team-building challenge called 100 Numbers! Students worked together in groups to solve the challenge while practicing communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and teamwork.

Our students jumped right into science today, using their senses to explore and identify the physical properties of matter! They were touching, observing, smelling, and investigating their way into a great start to the year!

And because it’s the first day of school, there’s always a little extra behind-the-scenes action!

Coach J had to step in and take on the role of librarian for a bit, while Mrs. Paine was called in to assess a tech issue—because apparently the first day comes with its own set of mysteries to investigate!

And then, of course, there were all the other cuties making the first day look good!

Our second grade team is taking all that phonics knowledge and putting it together to make this a BIG year for reading! And, of course, it’s also the year for regrouping in math… which is always a fun adventure!

🍎 Ms. Lang is our team leader and is bringing her expertise to reading while helping keep this amazing team organized and ready for a fantastic year!

➕ Mrs. Ilagan is teaming up with Ms. Lang for math and is ready to help our second graders tackle regrouping, problem-solving, and all those exciting math skills that come with second grade!

🎓 Mrs. Melancon is celebrating a BIG accomplishment—she just earned her Master’s in Education! We are so proud of her dedication to growing as an educator!

🌟 Mrs. Bresnock is one of the somewhat newest members of our team and has jumped right in! She is also taking on Safety Patrols alongside Mrs. Purvis, helping our students learn what it means to be responsible leaders.

As our students head back to class tomorrow morning for the first day of the new school year, it’s the perfect time for a quick refresher on getting to school safely. Whether you walk, ride, or drive, we all play a part in keeping our school community safe.

🚶‍♂️ WALK SAFE!

Heads Up, Phone Down! Stay alert and aware of your surroundings.

Use sidewalks and cross only at corners and crosswalks.

Look LEFT-RIGHT-LEFT before crossing.

Be seen!

🚲 RIDE SAFE! (Bikes, E-Bikes, & E-Scooters)

Helmet On: Wear a helmet—it’s the LAW for riders under 16!

Obey all traffic laws, stop signs, and traffic lights.

Ride with traffic, stay off your phone, and yield to walkers on the sidewalk.

E-Riders: You are fast and quiet. Drivers don't always expect you—be extra alert and slow down at intersections!

🚌 BUS SAFE!

Wait in a safe place well away from the road.

Board or cross ONLY when the driver gives you the "OK" signal.

Stay seated and keep the aisle clear.

Drivers: Please review the "School Bus Safety Rules" graphic below so you know exactly when you MUST stop!

🚗 DRIVE SAFE!

Slow down, especially in school zones.

Expect the unexpected—look twice for kids at every intersection, driveway, and crosswalk.

Give bicyclists at least 3 feet of clearance.
