Okay, I’m not saying I saved the BEST grade-level team for last… but I’m also not saying I didn’t.
Say hello to our AMAZING Resource Team!

🎨 Ms. Carlson – Art
Quite possibly the most amazing art teacher you could ever find! Don’t believe us? Just take a look at the annual Clay County Art Fair and you’ll see what we mean! One thing you can always count on with Ms. Carlson: you won’t see the same art projects year after year! She is constantly coming up with new, creative projects and finding ways to keep our students inspired and excited about art. We’re also SO excited to celebrate that she has a little one on the way! We couldn’t be happier for her! And we’re excited to announce that she’ll also be participating in the Art to Remember fundraiser this year! More information will be coming soon, so keep an eye out for all the details!

🏃‍♂️ Coach J – PE
The chillest. The coolest. The most vibing PE teacher around. He does an amazing job with track and teaches our students about nutrition, staying healthy and active, and the importance of good sportsmanship. He somehow manages to make fitness fun—and, somehow, he actually likes the heat. But Coach J isn’t just good at PE! He’s also surprisingly talented at art and is a fantastic storytime guest in the library . His skills in music and science, however… are still under review.

🎶 Mrs. Wood – Music
An amazing, highly qualified music teacher who basically knows ALL THE THINGS about music. She goes above and beyond with Chorus and Honors Chorus, helping our students find their voices—and then making them use them! She has brought her own musical expertise into the classroom as well—she also sings outside of the school day, so our students are learning from someone who truly lives and loves music! She goes above and beyond with Chorus and Honors Chorus and even brings in special guest visitors throughout the year to give students hands-on experiences and introduce them to different instruments, musicians, and all things musical.

🔬 Ms. Helm – Science
The newest addition to the team! She made the switch from the classroom to teaching Science to ALL grade levels, and honestly… this job was 100,000% made for her. She knows all the crazy, weird, gross, fascinating things AND somehow knows how to make them fun. She’s keeping our kids actively learning about the world around them, encouraging them to ask questions, get curious, and explore how things work. Basically, if it’s weird, fascinating, or makes you say “EWWWW!”—Ms. Helm probably has a lesson for it.

📚 Mrs. Paine – Media Specialist and IAF
Our lovely (I think so 🤷‍♀️😂) Media Specialist and resident social media extraordinaire! She genuinely LOVES to read and is always ready to share her favorite books, random facts, and, of course, her love of dogs. She’s also somehow everywhere, all at once, all the time. And when it comes to comedy, Mrs. Paine takes the crown! She has the BEST jokes on the team—although Coach J is a very close second with his endless supply of dad jokes. And yes, Mrs. Paine LOVES them. Honestly, we’re not sure if she loves Coach J’s dad jokes or just loves having someone else who appreciates a good terrible joke. But wait… there’s more! Mrs. Paine is also our school IAF, which means she helps our classroom teachers with all things technology!

📚 Ms. Meehan – Library Sidekick Extraordinaire
Helping Mrs. Paine keep the library organized and functioning while Mrs. Paine is busy being everywhere at once. 😂 We’re not saying she’s the reason things stay on track… but we’re also not not saying that.

Basically, this team is talented, hilarious, slightly chaotic, and absolutely essential to our school.

Meet Our Pre-K Team!

Our Pre-K team is full of heart, experience, creativity, and a whole lot of love for our littlest learners!

🌳 Ms. Ott has been part of the DIS family for a long time, so she brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our team. Ms. K is not only an amazing educator, but she is also the creative genius behind the beautiful tree in our Media Center! Ms. Holm is new to DIS this year, and we are so excited to have her joining our Pre-K family!

💕 Mrs. Daugherty, Mrs. Thompson, and Mrs. Montoya are all relatively new to DIS, but they are already settling in and enjoying their time with us. We are so glad they chose to be part of our DIS family!

👶 Mrs. Emiantor recently returned after taking a year off to enjoy some precious time with her sweet baby. We are VERY happy to have her back! Mrs. Earlene has a pretty special connection to the team—she is actually Mrs. Eimantor’s mother! Mrs. Megan is not only part of our Pre-K team, but she is also a DIS parent! Her loving heart and the care she shows our students are absolutely contagious.

Pre-K may be little, but the love on this team is HUGE!

Our precious campus piggy has officially found her forever home!

We are so happy to announce that she has been lovingly adopted by a DIS family—and apparently, she is already settling in like she owns the place.

Her new name is SALLY! And get this…her new family has ALREADY taught her how to SIT! From a mysterious pig wandering around campus to a well-loved, trained family pet…Sally’s glow-up is REAL.

We couldn’t have written a better ending to this little piggy’s adventure. Thank you to her new family for giving Sally a loving home!

Meet Our AMAZING First Grade Team! First grade is full of big learning, big growth, and LOTS of fun—and we have the perfect team to make it happen!

📖 Mrs. Pryor (not pictured) is our amazing team leader! She loves sharing her love of reading and bringing her expertise to help make first grade the best it can be.

🏊‍♀️ Ms. Harrison is a first-grade teacher by day and a lifeguard at the Dye-Clay YMCA in her spare time! She brings her energy and dedication to our first graders every day—and if you see her at the YMCA, be sure to stop by and say hello!

🏡 Ms. Hart is celebrating a BIG milestone—she recently purchased her very first house! She is also super close with her brothers, so we're sure they are pretty excited about her new place too!

✨ Mrs. Daniels is our cool, calm, and collected team member! No matter what the day brings, she always seems to keep her cool—and she brings plenty of Disney magic along with her love for all things Disney!

We are so lucky to have these wonderful ladies helping our first graders learn, grow, and make magical memories all year long!

We (I 😅) spent over 30 minutes outside at PPU trying to see if anyone was missing their beloved pig. Unfortunately, no one came to claim this beloved porker!
So, we’re putting the call out to the community! Please share this post in case you recognize this little pig and know who she belongs to.

If this is your pig, please come claim your porker! We promise he’s squeal-y hoping to go home!

This little cutie patootie was found wandering around the DIS campus and is looking for their family! Let’s get this little porker back home—we don’t want to make a big pig deal out of it!

Our fifth graders were putting their geography skills to work today! Students worked with partners to use latitude and longitude to find the locations of cities across the United States.

A little teamwork, a little map-reading, and a whole lot of learning! We love seeing our fifth graders explore the country without ever leaving the classroom!

Our fifth graders are in GREAT hands this year with this amazing team!

🍎 Ms. Currin is hopping from third grade to fifth grade this year and bringing her experience, energy, and probably a little bit of “Wait…these kids are BIG now!”

🏈➗🔬 Mrs. Mineo loves football, math, AND science—which means she’s basically ready for touchdowns, equations, and experiments all in one day!

📖 Ms. Ives is taking on the important job of helping our fifth graders grow as readers and building those skills for their next big adventure.

💪 Ms. Clark is joining us this year as a classroom teacher after taking a much-needed break, and we are so happy to have her back! When she’s not helping students learn, she enjoys working out—so fifth grade may be keeping her just as busy!

We’re excited to see all the learning, laughter, and growth this team brings to fifth grade! Welcome to another amazing year!

Our newest resource class, Science, is starting the year off with a bang! Students explored using their 5 senses, made observations, and asked the most important question.."Why?" They were able to see turtle eggs, chrysalis' and even real alligator heads (yuck a duck I say). We can't wait to see all the cool and perhaps gross science things this year.

She may not be pictured with every team, but she is definitely a part of EVERY team!

Our wonderful Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Senters, is an integral part of our school family. From supporting students and teachers to helping families, offering encouragement, solving problems, and somehow being EVERYWHERE she is needed—she truly helps keep our school running smoothly!

Now, I tried to get a picture of Mrs. Senters with every team… but apparently there are only so many hours in the day. So, I did what any reasonable person would do—I Photoshopped her into a few team pictures!

Please note: the sizing may not be completely accurate. In fact, she may appear slightly larger, smaller, or otherwise suspiciously proportioned in some of these photos. We are calling this creative editing.

We took time to talk about what it means to be a great teammate and how working together can help create a positive and successful math classroom. 🤝✨

What a great way to start the year! We are so excited to see all that our 6th graders will accomplish this year! 📚🎉
