Our 4th graders worked together to sort cards and discuss how the setting contributes to the plot in their Benchmark text, The Secret Spring. Students used details from the story to think about how the time and place of a story can influence what happens. 📖💬✨

What a fantastic morning at Oakleaf Village Elementary! We had a wonderful turnout today as we welcomed our amazing dads, grandfathers, stepdads, uncles, and father figures to campus. 💙💛
While last week’s power outage put our celebration on a brief pause, our OVE family certainly made up for lost time. From morning drop-offs to capturing instant Polaroid keepsakes at our photo backdrop, it was a great way to start the Friday.
As Principal Martin shared:
“A donut lasts for two minutes, but a picture lasts forever.” 🍩📸
Thank you to every father figure who joined us today. We hope those Polaroid photos serve as a lasting reminder of how much you mean to our Explorers!

Future teacher-in-training! One of our 3rd graders took the lead and reviewed the class vocabulary words for the week. What better way to strengthen learning than by teaching it to others? Learning, leading, and building confidence! ⭐
🐛🔎 Science at work! Our 4th graders observed caterpillars and spotted chrysalises right outside by the playground. What a cool way to see the life cycle happening in nature! 🌿🦋
Our 2nd graders used snacks to build numbers up to 1,000 and practice representing numbers in standard form, unit form, and expanded form. They had to think about the value of each digit and use their snacks to show it in different ways. Hands-on math is always a little more fun when you can eat your work afterward! 😋
