Thank you to Chief Warnock, USN Drone pilot, who met with our NJROTC cadets today to discuss the use of drones in national security, transportation, and surveillance. Currently, 30 cadets are preparing for their FAA 107A Commercial Drone Pilot exam.

Red Ribbon Week: October 27-31
On Tuesday, October 14th, 70 cadets from OPH NJROTC took part in a field trip to Camp Blanding Army National Guard Base. During the visit, they had the opportunity to overcome their fear of heights by rappelling from the 60-foot rappel tower.
They also had the opportunity to interact with Army National Guard personnel and recruiters, who conducted a follow-up visit to the school the following day to brief the cadets on career and college options available through the National Guard.

Shout out to Nicholas and his performance this past weekend at the State Special Olympics Swim Meet.
Nicholas came home as a two-time State Champion swimming title holder, winning gold in both of his events. He swam the backstroke portion of the 200 Medley Relay, helping his team earn 1st place. He also won 1st place in the 50-Meter Freestyle with a personal best time.

Last weekend, Cadets from Orange Park NJROTC participated in a ship visit. The cadets boarded the USNC SEAY, a USMC prepositioned vessel owned by Patriot Corp, which was moored pierside at USMC Base Blount Island. Cadets had the opportunity to tour the ship, interact with the crew, and sleep in crew berthing. Cadets also participated in firefighting, safety, survival, cargo handling, line maintenance, and navigational exercises.
