Congrats to our Scholars of the Week presented by Williams and Rowe Company Inc.
McKinzy Alexander and Christopher McKeel

Our 2026 Senior Class president McKinzy Alexander, had the honor of being selected by the American Legion Auxiliary to attend Girls State in Tallahassee this past week. During the week, the girls acted as our state’s elected legislative body, presented bills to vote on and also heard mock supreme trial cases. McKinzy served as a reporter for the week which aligns with her future career and made lasting connections with the friends she made.
Chris McKeel attended the Florida American Legion Boys State over the summer, where he was one of 16 boys elected “mayor” out of over 500 participants. Chris learned more about the structure and function of our state and local government. Chris also competes on the varsity wrestling team while excelling in both AP and Dual enrollment classes.

Dear Bronco Family,
I hope that everyone had an amazing summer break! We would like to share an opportunity of which many of you may not be aware. Middleburg High School is one of 19 high school VyStar Credit Union branches open to students, teachers, and staff on a high school campus. Our credit union is operated by 12 MHS VyStar Academy of Business and Entrepreneurship, Student Manager Interns. The branch is open daily during 5th period. Students and staff can use the credit union to conduct financial transactions, as well as sit down with one of our interns to open an account or ask any questions concerning their existing accounts. The branch is also convenient for students needing access to cash and much more; most importantly, it provides an avenue for students to learn how to manage and save their money.
One of VyStar’s main goals is to spread financial literacy to the community. Targeting today’s youth is an excellent starting point and gives them the opportunity to start saving early. Statistics indicate that 74% of teenagers in the US are not confident in their knowledge of personal finance, and 32% can’t tell the difference in credit and debit cards. Our interns help in providing financial literacy by going out into the classrooms and giving presentations on everything related to financial literacy. Opening a savings account is another way to start learning the skills needed to succeed beyond the walls of Middleburg High financially. Please encourage your student to stop by the credit union and open a savings account. To open an account the student can stop by during their lunch or 5th period enrichment time. They will need their social security number, a picture I.D, Driver’s License (or state issued I.D.), and a minimum of $5 deposit to open an account.
Want to give back to Middleburg High School? Stop by your local VyStar branch and request a MHS VyStar co-branded debit card. VyStar will give back 5 cents of every purchase you make to Middleburg High, up to $10,000. Since inception of the debit card give back program MHS has received $6,502.50.
Please let us help you start off your child’s financial future on the fight foot! #HorsePower.
Sincerely,
Britany Sands-Cree (VyStar Academy Teacher)
