Angie Orth (Class of 2000) is an award-winning travel journalist, author, content creator, and media host whose passion for global exploration has taken her to over 50 countries across six continents and 40 U.S. states.

After graduating from Middleburg High School, Angie attended the University of Florida, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations with minors in French and Spanish. In 2006, she launched AngieAway.com, which grew into one of the world’s longest-running travel blogs. Today, she inspires a worldwide audience across TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook as @AngieAway.

Angie is the author of the award-winning travel memoir Flirting with Disaster: True Travel Tales of Fear, Failure, and Faith, as well as the host of the award-winning series Traveling with AAA. A sought-after keynote speaker, her work has been featured in top national and regional outlets, including The Today Show, The Washington Post, National Geographic, Southern Living, Travel + Leisure, The Florida Times-Union, and First Coast News.

Beyond her professional achievements, Angie is deeply dedicated to philanthropy and family as a foster and adoptive parent and a board member for GRACIA, a nonprofit supporting vulnerable families in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Middleburg High School is proud to welcome Angie Orth into the Alumni Hall of Fame.

Working in small groups, students ran trials using bubbles to model real-world parental care scenarios, bringing abstract concepts like survivorship curves and carrying capacity to life through hands-on experimentation and teamwork.

It's Florida FCCLA Week! Today, our FCCLA chapter participated in "World Changer Wednesday" by packing snack packs to support the families staying at the local Ronald McDonald House.
