Mrs Morrell’s Class showing Laker Pride and Celebrating Freedom Week!

Last week Ms. Spencer's class learned about the Shenandoah Valley National Park. Students learned how fold mountains are created. Some students critically examined the 170,000 acres of unused land and proposed a plan of action. Others researched life cycles of native wildlife and plants of the Shenandoah. Some students pretended to be museum curators and created labels of actual photos of the park.

Our Laker Brickies were building again this week. Our small challenge was to build anything that could float. Then, we built boats and, of course, we had to see if they floated!

Do to the inclimate weather that has quickly moved in, we are holding walkers from the Jr High and Cafeteria gates until the weather clears.

We are so excited to announce that our Book Fair will be next week, Sept. 29th until Oct. 3rd. Your child will be able to shop at school, or you can shop with them at Family Night, Thurs. Oct. 2nd from 4:00 until 7:00.
Every child attending Family Night will be entered into a drawing for a free poster of their choice. Ten winners will be announced Friday morning.
Create your child’s Book Fair eWallet so they can shop cash-free, worry-free, and independently! It’s easy to set up and easy for others to contribute funds! Start here:

Our kindergarten class went outside to practice rhyming with hopscotch. Fun way to start a Monday!

A huge thank you to the Armstead Academic Project for their generous donation to Lakeside Elementary! We are extremely grateful!

On Friday we kicked off part of our new attendance initiative! Everyday students are here and on time they earn a ticket. Those tickets are turned in at the end of the week and a drawing is held. If a student's ticket is pulled, they get to come up and spin the wheel. Prizes are determined by the number on the wheel. The students loved this! Lots of excitement waiting for names to be called, and cheering for their classmates who were called.

Congratulations to Lakeside's nominees for School Related Employee of the year!
Mrs. Rooks, Mrs. Perry, and Mr. Patrick !

Congratulations to Lakeside's nominees for Teacher of the Year!
Mrs. Bunn, Mrs. Damron and Ms. Johns

Congratulations to these students for receiving a Positive Office Referral! Great job Lakers!

More pictures from this morning!

What a fun and busy week in Ms. Reyes’ class! We brought “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” to life — reading, retelling, and exploring the school with our binoculars. 🐻 We also learned about teamwork with “The More the Merrier,” built sandcastles, played handyman, and ended the week making a yummy apple pie with our speech friends.
