🌊🔬 Student Scientists in Action!
Fifth graders in Mrs. Dallmann’s class, alongside Mrs. Lockman’s scholars, became scientists as they explored how rain is formed. Students took the lead in designing a classroom investigation to model the stages of the water cycle.
They observed that when water is heated, evaporation takes place, mimicking the warming of Earth’s oceans. As the “atmosphere” cooled, they watched condensation begin to form, sparking lots of curiosity and discussion about clouds. Finally, with a little teamwork and creativity, students tapped the glasses to create precipitation—turning their model into a classroom rainstorm!
This student-centered exploration encouraged learners to ask questions, test ideas, and explain their discoveries. Not only did they have fun, but they also built a deeper understanding of the scientific processes that connect the ocean and atmosphere to the weather we experience every day. 🌎✨

Fall vibes and delicious smells filled Ms. Schliff's classroom Friday! 🍎🍁 They wrapped up their apple unit by celebrating the season with a little hands-on fun: making apple cider donuts! 🍩😋Students had a blast learning about apples and turning them into this sweet fall treat.

⛰️💙 At LAE, our teachers are always climbing higher together! This week the entire team engaged in powerful professional learning while analyzing student work side by side to grow our practice and sharpen our focus on what matters most: student engagement. 🌟
Every step we take as a team brings us closer to the top of the mountain for our students’ success. 🏔️📚

On Friday, we celebrated National Dads Bring Your Child to School Day with a sweet treat! 🍩 We loved seeing so many of our amazing LAE dads and father figures this morning. Thanks for all you do!
🖍️✨ STREAM Adventure Alert! ✨🖍️
Our students became engineers and leaders in this STREAM Crayon Adventure! They explored stability and the force of gravity by designing and building towers made entirely of crayons.
This hands-on challenge connected beautifully with our read-aloud book The Crayon Man, showing how creativity, perseverance, and problem-solving can lead to something extraordinary. 💡📚
We are so proud of the perseverance and innovation our Rams demonstrated as they engineered with crayons and discovered the power of persistence! 🐏💙

A huge congratulations to Mrs. Jensen for being voted LAE's Teacher of the Year and Mrs. Steven's for being voted LAE's Support Employee of the Year! 🎉 Your dedication, hard work, and passion make a world of difference to our students and school community. We're so lucky to have you! Thank you for all that you do. 🍎

Free tutoring available! See attached flyer for more information!

🌍✈️ Where in the world is Mrs. Lockman’s class this week?
We’ve landed in Peru and hiked all the way to the incredible Machu Picchu! 🏔️
Students explored the agricultural challenges of mountain farming and engineered their own terrace models, testing them against soil erosion. 🌱💧
📚 After finishing Chapter 2, they used chain reactions to design creative alarm systems for a house 🛎️⚡ and researched Peruvian farming to decide which type of farm would thrive best.
It’s been an adventure of science, engineering, and global learning—all while traveling the world from our classroom!

Our 1st-3rd grade musicians used measure mats to make measures of 2, 3, and 4 meters using strong and weak beats. After, they used the manipulatives to count out the beats of the measures, they played each measure using the correct meter and emphasized the strong beats.

Our 4th and 5th grade musicians have been learning how to read, write, and play rhythms in music class. This foundational skill is needed to be able to later create their own song.

For Hero Day, Mrs. Shaffer's VPK class had a special guest: Firefighter Ling from Alachua County! The kids were thrilled to meet a real-life hero and learn about what firefighters do to keep our community safe. A big thank you to Firefighter Ling for taking the time to visit and inspire our little heroes!

Lace up and get ready to run, walk, or jog! Run/walk is starting next Friday during students' resource block! It's the perfect way to get moving, de-stress, and have some fun with friends. Don't forget to grab your official LAE run/walk shirt! They're on sale now and are perfect for showing your support.

Our LAE teachers put on their student hats as they prepared for our upcoming STREAM Half-Day Adventure on September 17!
💡 Staff dove into hands-on learning by building towers out of crayons. An activity designed to model perseverance, problem-solving, and creativity. Just like our students will, teachers experienced the challenge of trial and error, teamwork, and celebrating growth.
👩🏫👨🏫 We are so proud of our LAE staff for embracing the same learning mindset we ask of our students every day. Lots of laughter, collaboration, and perseverance filled the room and we can’t wait to see our students shine during STREAM Adventure Day! Can you guess what table built the tallest crayon tower? 🌍✨
