Let's get a KHHS student in on this great opportunity!
Clay County is giving local high school seniors a chance to step into the shoes of a county commissioner—literally. The County just launched a new Commissioner for a Day program, and five students will be selected to spend Tuesday, September 23 shadowing District 1 Commissioner John Sgromolo for a full workday.
This opportunity gives students a real-world look at how local government runs—from public safety and emergency management to animal services, public works, and more.
Participants will follow Commissioner Sgromolo through meetings with county leaders and site visits, and learn how different departments and leaders work together to serve the community.
Who Can Apply?
The program is open to Clay County high school seniors.
How to Apply
Students must complete an online application that includes:
Basic info (name, contact, GPA, etc.)
A 1–2 minute video answering the prompt:
“What is your definition of leadership? What does great leadership look like in action?”

Kona Ice Coming to KHHS This Week

Students are reviewing the classroom expectations and procedures by following a question trail. They're doing a fantastic job of communicating with each other, justifying their choices when asked or discussing with peers, and checking their answers when they have to revisit a station. #IndianStrong

Tonight was a great night at our Open House! We appreciate all of our student leaders, staff, and teachers for doing an awesome job and for families coming out! KHHS is the BEST because of you all! Thank you!

Today, students in Mrs. Morgan's class discussed what strengths they have that contribute to the group/team's success and how they could use those to overcome disagreements or problems that arise. They are working beautifully on representing themselves that will pair with a poem about how differences bring people together to achieve a common goal. #OneTribe

Mark your calendars!

Remember today is our first Wednesday dismissing at 1:20pm.

Mrs. Goolsby's class learned the value of teamwork, having to build a cup tower using only rubber bands and string....no hands allowed! Students learned firsthand that cooperation and collaboration are the key to a successful outcome. We also learned that collaboration can be a lot of fun!
