⚡ Charge Into Fire Safety! ⚡

It’s Fire Prevention Week, and this year’s theme is all about safe charging! As technology plays a big role in our everyday lives, we are reminding our OneClay community that safe charging is a superpower.

🔌 Plug in. Power up. Stay safe.

To keep our homes and schools safe, make sure you are using your 6 Charging Superpowers:

• Cheap charger? Don't chance it. Use the cord and charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.

• Soft surface? Hard pass. Charge on a hard, flat surface like a table, desk, or bare floor.

• Fully charged? Time to unplug. Unplug your device when it is fully charged.

• For tools and rides, charge outside. Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside when possible, and never block exits when charging.

• Feels hot? Stop using it. Stop using your device if it feels very hot, starts to swell, smells strange, leaks, smokes, or makes popping or hissing sounds.

• On a flight? Keep it in sight. Keep devices where you can see them while charging on an airplane, and tell a flight attendant if you notice a problem.

Last Friday’s first half day of the school year was basically MADE for reading!

Our Mustangs took advantage of the extra time to curl up with a good book… outside! Because apparently, when you only have half a day of school, reading in the sunshine is the correct answer.

And it got even better! We had Book Buddies between our 4th and 2nd graders! Big kids + little kids + books = one pretty awesome way to spend a Friday!

On November 3, Clay County voters will consider the renewal of the existing One Mill ad valorem funding for four years (July 1, 2027 – June 30, 2031).

Because this measure is a renewal of the existing operating millage, it continues current funding without increasing tax rates. Revenues are strictly dedicated to two operational priorities:

School Safety: Funding law enforcement contracts for campus officers.

Employee Compensation: Providing competitive pay to retain and attract quality teachers and support staff.
