Clay County District Schools is proud to observe Celebrate Freedom Week from September 21–25 as part of American Founders' Month!
Throughout this week, students across our district will dive into the history and foundational principles of our nation. Lessons will highlight the Declaration of Independence, the United States Constitution, and the visionary leaders who helped shape American democracy.
We encourage our families to join the celebration at home by reflecting together on freedom, civic responsibility, and the history that unites us! 🗽🦅

Just like we want for our students, our teachers weren’t just sitting and listening;they were participating, practicing, sharing ideas, and learning from one another! We are grateful for Ms. Weaver and Ms. Sessions for continuing to support our teachers as we find new ways to connect with students and make virtual learning personal. 💙❤️

Learning in Action at CVA! Our Forensic Science students put their investigative skills to work in Ms. Derousie’s Live Lesson! This wasn’t a sit-and-listen review; students were doing the thinking as they answered questions from their Module 1 learning, reviewed classmates’ work for accuracy and clarity, provided constructive feedback, made revisions, and received feedback from Ms. Derousie.
Students tackled everything from processing a crime scene and maintaining chain of custody to the physical and chemical properties of evidence. Even better, they were learning from one another along the way! Interactive, collaborative, and student-centered; that’s what learning looks like at CVA! 💙❤️

This week, September 13–19, Clay County District Schools is proud to celebrate National Arts in Education Week!
From visual arts and band to choir, theatre, and dance, fine arts education plays an essential role in helping our students build confidence, foster innovation, and develop critical thinking skills. We celebrate our incredibly talented student artists and express our gratitude to the dedicated fine arts educators who inspire them every day.
✨ Stay Creative, OneClay! ✨
Be sure to follow @OneClayFineArts on Facebook to see incredible student artwork, performance highlights, and arts updates from across our district all year long! 🎨👏

As our winner, Matthew received a $25 Chick-fil-A gift card! Thank you to Matthew and all of our CVA students, families, faculty, and staff who participated. Even though we learn and work from different places, we came together to show that CVA remembers, CVA honors, and CVA will never forget.

On Heroes’ Day, we are especially proud to recognize two veterans who continue to serve others through their work as lab facilitators with our CVA Flex students: Melissa Morris at Orange Park High School and Kim Saddler at Keystone Heights Junior/Senior High School.
Both Melissa and Kim proudly served in the United States Air Force, and today, they continue that spirit of service by supporting and encouraging our students. As we honor the heroes of September 11th and all those who have answered the call to serve, we are grateful to have two of those heroes as part of our CVA community. Thank you, Melissa and Kim, for your service to our country and for the difference you continue to make for our students. ❤️🤍💙

Today, September 11th, Clay County District Schools pauses to honor the lives lost, the courageous first responders who rushed toward danger, and the countless heroes whose bravery shone on one of our nation’s darkest days.
On this National Day of Remembrance, our students and staff reflect on the selflessness, unity, and resilience that defined our country following September 11, 2001. Through meaningful classroom reflection and age-appropriate civics lessons, we ensure that the legacy of these heroes inspires the next generation.
Today, we invite our Clay County community to join us in taking a moment of quiet reflection to honor those we lost and thank the local heroes who keep us safe every day.
We will never forget. ❤️

Great things happen when educators come together with a shared focus on students! Our Clay Virtual Academy School-Based Leadership Team spent time virtually digging into our weekly student data, reviewing our reflection and student success tools, and discussing how our PLCs can use this information to identify needs, celebrate progress, and intervene early when a student needs additional support.
In a virtual school, we may not see our students walking through the hallways each day, but that makes it even more important that we are intentional about knowing our students, noticing the data, and staying connected.
We are thankful for a leadership team that is willing to collaborate, ask questions, reflect on our practices, and continually look for ways to better serve our students and teachers.
