Empowering the Future through CTE at Oakleaf High! 🚀

We are incredibly proud to showcase the innovative Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs at Oakleaf High School!

Today’s CTE is all about high-tech, hands-on learning that bridges the gap between the classroom and the real world. From saving lives to launching satellites, our students are gaining the competitive edge they need for the modern workforce.

On Friday, Oakleaf High opened its doors to community partners and district leaders for a special tour of these diverse pathways. Visitors got an up-close look at students mastering skills in:

Aerospace Technology

Cybersecurity

Television Production

EKG Technician & Nursing Assistant

Early Childhood Education

Agribusiness Management & Natural Resources

Digital Design & Digital Photography

Entrepreneurship

A sincere thank you to Superintendent Broskie, our School Board members, the Oakleaf High administration, our business partners, and our dedicated CTE leadership for their support of these vital programs. By investing in these pathways, we are ensuring our students leave Oakleaf ready to lead, create, and succeed!

Fueling the Future of Clay County! 🍎✨

Today, we had the privilege of hosting our Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) team as they presented to Superintendent Broskie and his Cabinet. While many see them in the cafeteria line, these unsung heroes are working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure our students have the nutrition they need to excel in the classroom and beyond.

Did you know?

🍱 5 Million Meals: Our team prepares and serves over 5 million meals annually!

🥗 29,000 Daily Smiles: Every single school day, they serve roughly 7,000 breakfasts and 22,000 lunches.

✅ Gold Standard Excellence: The team recently completed comprehensive reviews from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services with zero deficiencies—a testament to their high standards for safety and quality.

🏫 Community Care: Through the CEP program, they’ve ensured 20 of our schools receive meals at no cost to families through 2028.

From "Shuck the Corn" events to National School Lunch Week, this team does so much more than "serve lunch." They provide the energy our students need to dream big and the care that makes our schools feel like home.

We are so incredibly proud of this team and the vital role they play in our mission to put students first.

Give this post a ❤️ or a 👍 to show your appreciation for the incredible Food and Nutrition staff at your child’s school!

⏰ Don’t forget to "Spring Forward," Clay County!

Just a friendly reminder that Daylight Saving Time begins this weekend! Most people find it easiest to set their clocks ahead one hour on Saturday night before heading to bed—that way, you’re all set for Sunday morning! 🛌✨

While we all adjust to losing that hour of sleep, we’re definitely looking forward to those longer, sunnier afternoons for our students' after-school sports and activities! ☀️

We can’t wait to see all our students arriving safely and right on time this Monday morning to kick off another great week of learning. 🎒✨

📚🏈 What a "touchdown" for literacy!

Today, Lakeside Elementary had the incredible honor of hosting the 10th annual Tackle Reading event in celebration of Dr. Seuss’s 122nd birthday. This nationwide tradition is designed to inspire students to fall in love with reading through the power of football.

We were thrilled to welcome 2024 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year and Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Arik Armstead to our campus. Arik served as a national spokesperson for the program this year and inspired our students with a special reading of The Cat in the Hat and motivational messages about the power of education.

The energy in the building was electric, thanks to some very special guests:

Arik Armstead, Jaguars spokesperson and 2024 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year.

The Jacksonville Jaguars mascot, Jaxon De Ville, who brought the game-day spirit.

The Cat in the Hat himself!

Superintendent David Broskie and Chief of Elementary Heather Teto.

Every student walked away with their very own Dr. Seuss book to keep, thanks to the generosity of Dr. Seuss Enterprises. We are so grateful to Creative Minds Publications and all the partners who made this day possible, helping our students fall in love with reading.

Check out these highlights from today’s celebration! 👇

🏫 We want to hear from you: 2026-2027 School Bell Times!

Clay County District Schools is considering three options for school start times for the 2026-2027 school year, and your feedback is essential to this decision.

In 2025, Florida law (SB 296) granted our School Board the flexibility to decide the best bell times for our community. We are currently weighing three possibilities:

Option A: Keep bell times exactly as they are now.

Option B: Elementary schools start first (7:20 AM), High Schools start last (9:40 AM).

Option C: Swap Elementary and Senior High times (High School starts at 8:30 AM).

Each option has different impacts on transportation costs, extracurriculars, and student sleep patterns. We want to know what works best for your family!
