📚 It's Literacy Week!! 📚

The theme is “Read, White , and Blue…celebrating 250 Chapters of America”.

Each day we are going to focus on fun with the foundation for success with literacy activities
and dress-up days. Here are some IDEAS you are welcome to use during this fun celebration.

“Caught reading” tickets will be given to homeroom teachers to distribute to students who are reading
during free time. Tickets will be color coordinated per grade level and students will turn in tickets to the
media center. A drawing will be done at the end of the week with winners from each grade level.

Monday: Stars and Stripes
Dress up in Red, White, and Blue.
School Wide Activity: Drop Everything and Read (D.E.A.R.) a special time when the whole school reads at the same time, possibly 10-15 min before dismissal.

Tuesday: Read the People
Wear a shirt with a positive message.
Patriotic Bookmarkers will given to students to color their own bookmarker that has a patriotic theme.

Wednesday: Future of America
Dress up like your future career.
Teachers will be given paper stars to write new words that students have learned so far this year. A bulletin board will be created with all the star words that have been collected. Goal would be to get 250 words to celebrate the “250 Chapters of America”.

Thursday: Branches of our Military
Dress to represent a branch of the military or camouflage.
Hats Off to Reading. Students can bring in a fun hat to wear while they read.

Friday: School Spirt
Dress in TBE colors or a school shirt.
Flashlight Friday: “Reading Lights the Way” With teacher approval, scholars are invited to bring a flashlight to school to use while reading during class.
