Our Upper Elementary 6th graders recently took a high-energy, hands-on approach to data analysis! To sharpen their investigative skills, students participated in a physical endurance challenge: timing themselves as they completed five sets of 40 jumping jacks.

After meticulously recording their results in data tables, students transitioned from the "gym" to the "lab" to construct histograms. By plotting their performance across different intervals, they were able to visually compare their efficiency between the first set and the final set.

Through this comparison, students investigated a key question: Does physical fatigue slow us down, or does the adrenaline of the final set lead to a faster time? This interactive lesson proved that math isn't just about numbers on a page—it's a tool we can use to measure and understand our own physical world
