Congratulations to Ridgeview High School juniors David Whaley and Sarah Benardini! Last weekend, David and Sarah proudly represented Clay County District Schools at the 28th Annual Sunshine State Scholars Conference in Orlando, hosted by the Florida Department of Education and the Florida Education Foundation. Selected as two of Florida’s top 11th-grade students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), they joined over 110 student-scholars and their families across the state for two days of celebration, innovation, and exploration. During the event, these outstanding scholars participated in dynamic problem-solving think tanks, networked with STEM professionals and university representatives, and explored exciting postsecondary pathways in Florida. From interactive college workshops to receiving new iPads from AT&T, it was an unforgettable experience! We are incredibly proud to share that David was selected as one of only 37 scholars statewide to receive a one-year full tuition scholarship generously provided by State Farm and the Florida Prepaid College Foundation. This incredible honor recognizes David’s academic excellence and promise for a future in STEM! We couldn’t be prouder of these Panthers and all they’ve accomplished. Mr. Crews’ Math for College Liberal Arts students kicked off a new financial literacy series this week with an interactive budgeting game! Students navigated real-world scenarios, balancing monthly budgets, tackling unexpected expenses, and making decisions to try to save for the year. After the game, they reflected on the choices that made the biggest impact and sparked thoughtful discussions on achieving financial independence after graduation. #PanthersRISE

Mrs. Yancey’s World History students are bringing learning to life as they explore the continent of Africa through food! In a delicious hands-on activity, students made seafood turnovers inspired by African cuisine, similar to empanadas but filled with crayfish, crab, and African spices. To make it their own, each student created a custom dipping sauce using sour cream, herbs, and condiments after a fun discussion on the familiar dishes each spice is commonly used in. The creativity (and flavor) was off the charts! #PanthersRISE

Ms. Charles’ Algebra 2 students leveled up their math skills with a fast-paced and engaging “Log Race” board game! Designed to reinforce key concepts, the game challenged students to rewrite exponents and logarithms, expand and condense logarithmic expressions, and solve exponential and logarithmic equations.
