Our General Music students had the incredible opportunity to experience the Jacksonville Symphony last week! Held at the beautiful Jacoby Symphony Hall, the concert introduced students to the power and excitement of live symphonic music through the Symphony’s Preludes program. This 45-minute concert showcased all sections of the orchestra. It connected beautifully to what students are learning in the classroom, helping them see (and hear!) how music tells stories, sparks imagination, and brings people together.

A special thank you to Ms. Bice, Ms. Manis, and peer mentor Alicia Quezada for accompanying our students and helping make this memorable musical experience possible! #PanthersRISE

Representative and Florida House Speaker Designate Sam Garrison stopped by Ridgeview on Friday to personally thank our students for their outstanding performance of the National Anthem at his recent ceremony. He spent time getting to know each of them, asking about their future goals, answering their questions, and sharing insights about his work in public service. To make the visit even sweeter, he brought donuts to share as a token of appreciation for their talent and school spirit.

We’re grateful for his continued support of our students and his genuine interest in their learning, leadership, and success. #PanthersRISE

Last week, in honor of National School Bus Safety Week, we celebrated the incredible bus drivers and assistants who safely transport our Panthers each day. Their commitment, patience, and care ensure that learning begins and ends with a smile. They each received a small token of appreciation as a reminder that we’re thankful for them always “going the extra mile” for our students. Thank you for all that you do to keep Ridgeview rolling! #PanthersRISE

Ms. Yancey’s Physical Science students are exploring the properties of matter, including concepts like mass, volume, and density, calculated by dividing mass by volume. When a classmate returned after being out, his peers took the lead in teaching him the lesson. The experience gave everyone a chance to review, explain, and reinforce their own understanding in the process. #PanthersRISE

In Ms. Fortner’s Honors and Pre-IB/AICE Chemistry classes, students brought science to life through a flame test lab using Bunsen burners and various metal solutions. When heated, the electrons in each metal moved from their ground state to an excited state, then released energy in the form of vibrant light as they returned to ground state. Each colorful flame revealed a unique spectral signature for the metal ion tested, allowing students to connect abstract atomic theory to real-world observation. #PanthersRISE

Ms. Generazio’s Art 1 students took their Spooky Drawing projects to the next level through a carousel critique designed to strengthen artistic vocabulary and peer feedback skills. Each student received a card labeled Best Technique, Most Creative, Favorite Work, or Most Expressive and rotated around the room, leaving thoughtful comments focused on value, shading, and line work. During the class debrief, the students with the most feedback shared the comments they received from their peers. Together, the class discussed what made feedback specific, detailed, and connected to artistic concepts.
Through this process, students not only refined their techniques; they learned to observe, articulate, and appreciate the creative process in one another’s work. #PanthersRISE
