Students in Mrs. Recker's class brought Earth science to life with a fun, hands-on activity modeling plate tectonic boundaries! Using graham crackers, icing, and chocolate chips, they recreated the movement of Earth’s lithospheric plates and observed how these movements shape our planet.
Working together, they explored how plates collide at convergent boundaries to form mountains, pull apart at divergent boundaries to create new crust, and slide past each other at transform boundaries causing earthquakes. This engaging activity helped students visualize complex geologic processes in a simple and tasty way while reinforcing key science concepts.
Students loved the chance to build and experiment, and the lesson sparked great conversations about how these same processes happen beneath our feet on a much larger scale.🐾🐾

Please join us in congratulating Stephanie Abreu-Quijada for being selected as our PRIDE student of the week. Our Media Specialist, Mrs. Kiem nominated Stephanie because she volunteered to assist with a variety of library tasks such as creating the Hispanic Heritage Month display and putting together the teacher book return boxes. She is a shining star at OPJ and a great example of a WEB crew leader! Way to go Stephanie!🐾🐾

After learning the importance of a recipe and the elements of the recipe, students from Mrs. Fatima’s classes participated in a Recipe Art Competition. Here are the top two from each of her classes. It was very difficult for the judges to choose as there was a tough competition and so many beautiful recipe arts to choose from. Congratulations to all of our talented Wildcats!!!
