🇵🇷 Hispanic Heritage Month Spotlight: Puerto Rico! 🇵🇷
Today, we would like to feature Puerto Rico for Hispanic Heritage Month! Yeray, Ana Maria, Jaylianna, Summer, and Brooklyn as well as many more of our students are from Puerto Rico.
One interesting fact about Puerto Rico is its Playa Negra, a beach with striking black sand formed by volcanic activity and shifting tectonic plates.
Let us celebrate Puerto Rican culture with us as we appreciate its vibrant music, traditions, food, and history!

Clay County District Schools is partnering with Who We Play For to provide IN-SCHOOL EKG SCREENINGS for eligible 8th grade student-athletes as they prepare to enter high school.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, Florida’s Second Chance Act requires students in grades 9–12 to complete an EKG screening the first time they participate or seek to participate in interscholastic athletics.
For our current 8th graders planning to participate in high school athletics, completing the screening now can help satisfy this requirement before entering 9th grade.
WHO WILL NEED AN EKG?
• Incoming 9th-grade student-athletes participating in high school athletics
• Students in grades 10–12 who are participating in interscholastic athletics for the first time
• An eligible EKG completed within the previous two years may also satisfy the requirement
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE SCREENING?
Results from the in-school EKG screening will be emailed to families within approximately 7–10 days.
Parents/guardians will be responsible for providing the EKG results, along with the completed EL1 physical form, to the student’s HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC DIRECTOR before the student participates in a high school sports tryout.

On November 3, Clay County voters will consider the renewal of the existing One Mill ad valorem funding for four years (July 1, 2027 – June 30, 2031).
Because this measure is a renewal of the existing operating millage, it continues current funding without increasing tax rates. Revenues are strictly dedicated to two operational priorities:
School Safety: Funding law enforcement contracts for campus officers.
Employee Compensation: Providing competitive pay to retain and attract quality teachers and support staff.
