Today was the Clay County Junior High Chess Tournament, hosted at OPJ! This is the very first year that OPJ has had a chess team and our students have worked so hard all year preparing. There were some hard fought matches and incredible performances by all, but especially from our Wildcats.
Team captain Ayddrick Walton led our team to some awesome victories, and we were able to secure an impressive third place finish! A special shoutout to Ahmyah Wright for going undefeated the entire tournament! So proud of our students. We are definitely looking forward to participating again next year!
A special shout out to Mr. Cain Mrs. Kiem and Mrs. Soto-Gil for providing so much support for our students! And a big thank you to Mr. Emery, our volunteer chessmaster for organizing our tournament.

Our Semester 2 Awards Night will be held on Tuesday, May 12 at 6:00 PM at Celebration Church. This special evening, hosted by administration, honors the hard work and achievements of our students.
