Today was one of our favorite days of the year in 11th and 12th grade English, Dreams and Donuts! Students in Mrs. Lade’s classes enjoyed breakfast together while reading The Dash and imagining their futures.
They set meaningful goals, built roadmaps for success, and created vision boards to bring their dreams to life. Along the way, they shared ideas, encouraged one another, and had the chance to discuss their plans with two special guests Mr. Williams and Mr. Stilianou.
We are so proud of the vision, creativity, and determination our Broncos showed today!

Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy had its Kick Off meeting on Monday and over 40 students showed up to hear how they can gain and put leadership skills to work Impacting our Community through Action!
Joe and Tabitha Mayo joined us and talked to the group about the impact today's youth have on the community and the reach their display of leadership can have. We wrapped our meeting doing our share of the "1 Million Book Giveaway" by making 300 book bundles (about 1500 books) with handwritten notes of encouragement and praise, to be distributed to children in Bronco Building Blocks as well as K-2 students at Middleburg Elementary. #HorsePower

Clay County is giving local high school seniors a chance to step into the shoes of a county commissioner—literally. The County launched a new Commissioner for a Day program, and five students will be selected to spend Tuesday, September 23 shadowing District 1 Commissioner John Sgromolo for a full workday.
This opportunity gives students a real-world look at how local government runs—from public safety and emergency management to animal services, public works, and more.
Participants will follow Commissioner Sgromolo through meetings with county leaders and site visits and learn how different departments and leaders work together to serve the community.
Who Can Apply?
The program is open to Clay County high school seniors.
How to Apply
Students must complete an online application that includes:
Basic info (name, contact, GPA, etc.)
A 1–2 minute video answering the prompt:
“What is your definition of leadership? What does great leadership look like in action?”

🎥 Upload your video-
Please email your video to recruiting@claycountygov.com.

Our 2026 Senior Class president McKinzy Alexander, had the honor of being selected by the American Legion Auxiliary to attend Girls State in Tallahassee this past week. During the week, the girls acted as our state’s elected legislative body, presented bills to vote on and also heard mock supreme trial cases. McKinzy served as a reporter for the week which aligns with her future career and made lasting connections with the friends she made.
Chris McKeel attended the Florida American Legion Boys State over the summer, where he was one of 16 boys elected “mayor” out of over 500 participants. Chris learned more about the structure and function of our state and local government. Chris also competes on the varsity wrestling team while excelling in both AP and Dual enrollment classes.
