It was a great night at LAJ! Before kickoff, the team was proud to present a $1,500 donation to the American Cancer Society in support of cancer research and the fight for a cure. Then our Tigers took the field and earned a great win over the Wilkinson Eagles! We had an incredible crowd cheering on both teams and making Pink Out a special night. Thank you to our coaches, families, players, cheerleaders, pep band, and students for showing up and supporting our Tigers!

The Lake Asbury FBLA hosted a Special FBLA Interest meeting with our Florida FBLA State Reporter, Shawn Saint Vilus, this past week! He came and spoke to members, parents, and potential members, sharing about the impact FBLA has had on his life as an Alumnus of Lake Asbury Junior. He shared how his experience started as a 7th grader and has grown through challenges, successes, friendships, and national recognition. The next Lake Asbury FBLA chapter meeting is Thursday, October 1st at 8:30 a.m. in Room 611, and you are invited. We hope to see you there!

A GREAT NIGHT TO BE A TIGER! What a night for Lake Asbury Athletics! Both our Flag Football and Volleyball teams picked up wins tonight! But the night was about more than what happened on the scoreboard. Our volleyball team held its Breast Cancer Awareness Game, with our players proudly wearing pink and coming together for an incredible cause. Thanks to the support of our players, families, coaches, and Tiger community, LAJH Volleyball was proud to donate $500 to the American Cancer Society. Winning games is always fun, but seeing our Tigers represent their school while supporting something bigger than themselves makes us even more proud. Great job, Tigers!

The Fishing Club is back at LAJ! Thanks to Mr. Murray for bringing this club back to campus! Friday’s first outing had a great turnout, fish were caught, and fun was had. It was great to see our Tigers outside enjoying the fresh air and time together. We’re especially grateful to the teachers and staff who voluntarily give their time to sponsor clubs and create these opportunities for our students. 🎣

🏈 Our Tigers came away with a big win over Oakleaf Junior on Saturday! We are proud of our players, not only for how they competed, but for the composure, discipline, and sportsmanship they demonstrate each week. A big thank you to our coaches, cheerleaders, families, students, and staff who showed up to feed, support, and cheer on our team! Go get ’em, Tigers!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR 8TH GRADE ATHLETES & FAMILIES

Clay County District Schools is partnering with Who We Play For to provide IN-SCHOOL EKG SCREENINGS for eligible 8th grade student-athletes as they prepare to enter high school.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, Florida’s Second Chance Act requires students in grades 9–12 to complete an EKG screening the first time they participate or seek to participate in interscholastic athletics.

For our current 8th graders planning to participate in high school athletics, completing the screening now can help satisfy this requirement before entering 9th grade.

WHO WILL NEED AN EKG?
• Incoming 9th-grade student-athletes participating in high school athletics

• Students in grades 10–12 who are participating in interscholastic athletics for the first time

• An eligible EKG completed within the previous two years may also satisfy the requirement

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE SCREENING?
Results from the in-school EKG screening will be emailed to families within approximately 7–10 days.

Parents/guardians will be responsible for providing the EKG results, along with the completed EL1 physical form, to the student’s HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC DIRECTOR before the student participates in a high school sports tryout.

Please contact your child’s school directly for information regarding screening dates, registration, consent requirements, and other school-specific details.

FBLA is off to a great start this year but are you still wondering what the Future Business Leaders of America is all about? Our Lady Tiger Flag Football team brought home another victory over the Baker County Wildcats! These young ladies continue to show tremendous teamwork, determination, and great sportsmanship on and off the field. We are so proud of the way they represent LAJ!

On November 3, Clay County voters will consider the renewal of the existing One Mill ad valorem funding for four years (July 1, 2027 – June 30, 2031).

Because this measure is a renewal of the existing operating millage, it continues current funding without increasing tax rates. Revenues are strictly dedicated to two operational priorities:

School Safety: Funding law enforcement contracts for campus officers.

Employee Compensation: Providing competitive pay to retain and attract quality teachers and support staff.

Make sure your voice is heard! Clay County District Schools encourages all eligible voters in our community—including parents, staff, and students turning 18—to prepare for the upcoming 2026 General Election.

Mark your calendars with these key deadlines:

October 22: Last Day to Request a Mail Ballot Submit your request by 5:00 PM at ClayElections.gov.
