October 19th–23rd, 2026 is National School Bus Safety Week! This year’s national theme is "Safe Rides, Everyday Heroes." 💛
Keeping our students safe on the way to and from school is a community effort. Please keep these key reminders in mind:
For Drivers: Always stop when yellow school bus lights flash red and the stop arm is extended. Slow down in school zones and eliminate all distractions.
For Students: Stay visible! Be extra cautious around the 10-foot area surrounding the bus and always stand three big steps back from the curb while waiting.

Because this measure is a renewal of the existing operating millage, it continues current funding without increasing tax rates. Revenues are strictly dedicated to two operational priorities:
School Safety: Funding law enforcement contracts for campus officers.
Employee Compensation: Providing competitive pay to retain and attract quality teachers and support staff.

LAJH FBLA had a great day at the District 27 Rally! Students networked, had fun, elected district officers, won prizes, and learned about community service.

What a fun evening showcasing our 8th grade STEAM students and their Shark Tank inventions! This cross-curricular, project-based learning experience brought together creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation as students shared their Quarter 1 projects with families.
A special thank you to our wonderful teachers, Ms. Randall, Ms. Kevern, Ms. Underwood, and Ms. Austin, for making meaningful learning experiences like this possible!

Our Academic Team had a great first home match of the season! Although our Tigers did not win the overall points, they continue to improve, demonstrate their knowledge, and represent LAJ with pride. We are especially proud of this dedicated team, which includes students from sixth through eighth grade.
A special thank-you to our parents, Mr. Johnson, our Academic Team advisor; Mrs. Mia, who moderated the match; our judges, Mrs. McHugh-Clark and Mr. Burke; and Mr. Rivera for his assistance. Your support helped make this event a success!

Students in Mrs. Milla’s and Mrs. Kirnie’s classrooms were busy tackling problems, sharing their thinking, and explaining their mathematical reasoning. From discussions and creative questioning to small-group instruction and individualized help, our Tigers were engaged in learning! Shoutout to Mrs. Patton for providing additional support and helping students build confidence and understanding. We love seeing our students think, collaborate, and shine!

In Mrs. Connelly’s STEAM Civics class 🇺🇸students discussed the events leading to the American Revolution, from the Royal Proclamation of 1763 to the Boston Tea Party. Lots of thoughtful questions, context, and connections were shared as our Tigers explored the road to independence!
Learning takes teamwork! Students in Mrs. Sieruta’s 7th grade science classes put their thinking skills to work with a “reverse review,” creating questions from given answers to prepare for an upcoming assessment. Great collaboration, critical thinking, and student engagement!
