Second star to the right and straight on ’til morning!
Mrs. Lockman's 4th grade pirates began their Peter Pan novel study with Chapter 1 and explored one of the story’s biggest ideas: growing up is something we all have to do, but we get to choose what memories, lessons, and pieces of ourselves we carry with us.
To bring that idea to life, students completed a STEM Time Capsule Challenge! They had to think critically about what items would best represent who they are as 4th graders, design and prepare their time capsule, and decide what was meaningful enough to preserve for the future.
Then came the best part… we buried it!
Next year, when these students return as 5th graders, we’ll dig it back up and see just how much they have grown and changed in one year.
Peter Pan may never want to grow up, but our 4th graders are learning that growing up can be its own pretty amazing adventure.
