Wednesday, students stepped into the courtroom to simulate a breach of contract case, taking on roles such as judge, jury, defendant, plaintiff, prosecutor, and defense attorney.
During pre-trial preparations, students carefully reviewed witness statements to identify disputed facts. Six students read the entire hearing aloud, while the rest of the class served as courtroom spectators. Afterward, the whole class became the jury, engaging in lively discussions and debates on each question presented during the trial.
In the end, a unanimous decision was reached—after much thoughtful deliberation! Activities like this show how learning can be interactive, fun, and collaborative, perfectly capturing the spirit of Adult Education & Family Literacy Week. 💙📖

This week we celebrated three of our hardworking evening GED students whose persistence and dedication inspire us all.
🔹 Wesley G. recently joined ACE and has already passed Reading and Science! He shows up every night ready to work, and in the words of Mrs. Ford-Hudson: “This kid doesn’t quit!” Wesley plans to enter the HVAC trade and enjoys reading—especially anything by Stephen King.
🔹 Connor D. has also passed Reading and Science and is setting his sights on both plumbing and electrical work after earning his GED. His teachers say he comes to class every night with a smile, a great attitude, and a strong work ethic. Connor enjoys reading science articles and is always eager to learn more.
🔹 Corey was also recognized last night, receiving a Certificate of Achievement for his NRS level gain—a milestone that reflects his persistence and steady progress.
These students embody what Adult Education & Family Literacy Week is all about: setting goals, putting in the work, and building brighter futures. We are proud of their accomplishments and grateful for the support of their teachers, Mr. Hamm and Mrs. Ford-Hudson, who encourage and guide them every step of the way. 💙

Meet Alisie O., a shining example of perseverance and progress in Mr. Howell’s GED class. Alisie’s positive attitude, strong attendance, and steady academic growth have been key to her success. She has already passed RLA and Social Studies and will soon transition to Mrs. Josey’s class to finish Math and Science.
Alisie shares that she appreciates how ACE simplifies instruction and helps her develop a clear plan for progress. She says the staff and instructors are “very supportive of me and my classmates.” Looking ahead, Alisie is excited to graduate this December and discover the next chapter of her life, with help from ACE’s Workforce Development activities that prepare students for future success.
In her free time, Alisie enjoys literature—especially the works of Edgar Allan Poe, with The Tell-Tale Heart being a favorite.
We are proud of Alisie’s achievements and grateful for the dedication of our teachers, who inspire students every day through their commitment to literacy, learning, and our community. 💙📚

Meet Shirley P., a dedicated ESOL student in Mr. Brown’s class. Shirley is known for her commitment to learning English, her persistence, and her generosity in helping classmates. Beloved by all, she is a shining example of what it means to be part of the ACE family.
When asked about her journey, Shirley shared: “Through persistence and perseverance in attending all classes and studying at home, I have been able to achieve a better understanding of English.”
She also praised her teacher, Mr. Brown, saying she values his detailed effort, the time he dedicates to his students, and his unique teaching methodology. Shirley is grateful for ACE’s low-cost courses and the special opportunities they provide for students like her.
We are so proud of Shirley’s hard work and the positivity she brings to our classrooms each day! 💙📚
Also, Alite C., one of our committed ESOL students who, like Shirley P., is making remarkable strides at ACE. Alite says she “loves ACE” and appreciates how Mrs. Francis helps her reach her goals through the ACE learning program.
Her dream is to become a preschool teacher, and she draws inspiration from her favorite book, How to Become the Best Teacher You Can Be by Rachel Sawyer. Alite’s dedication and passion for learning reflect the heart of ACE and the spirit of Adult Education & Family Literacy Week.
We are proud to celebrate Alite’s achievements and can’t wait to see all that she will accomplish!

In celebration of Adult Education and Family Literacy Week, we are proud to recognize Makayla, a determined GED student at ACE. She is currently working on Science and Math and continues to show dedication to her studies.
Makayla’s favorite book is Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi, reflecting her love of reading and connection to powerful stories. After earning her GED, Makayla plans to pursue trade school to become a mechanic — a goal that shows both her ambition and drive for success.
When asked what she enjoys most about ACE, Makayla shared: “I like how my teachers are able to adapt to different learning styles and that they are really one on one.”
We celebrate Makayla’s hard work and persistence, and we honor her teachers who continue to support and guide her on her path to success. 📚✨

Meet Samir M., a dedicated GED student in Mr. Howell’s class. Samir is an excellent example of persistence and determination. He has recently rededicated himself to mastering the GED Social Studies section, working closely with Mr. Howell to clarify concepts and strengthen his understanding.
Samir’s goals reach far beyond the classroom—he plans to graduate from ACE and pursue business studies at a university. In his free time, he enjoys reading articles on current events and exploring his passion for cars.
A special thank-you to Mr. Howell, whose dedication and support help students like Samir stay motivated and focused on their goals. His commitment to student success makes all the difference.
We’re proud of Samir’s hard work and look forward to celebrating his accomplishments ahead! 💙📚

As part of Adult Education & Family Literacy Week, our amazing ACE faculty and staff brought in the books they are currently reading—and the titles say it all! From Jodi Picoult’s The Storyteller, to Mindset: The New Psychology of Success, to Make the Impossible Possible, our team is proving that reading not only inspires but also guides us in life, work, and learning.
By showcasing their books, our teachers and staff model the joy of literacy for students while sparking curiosity and conversation in our classrooms. Their choices remind us that stories have power, success starts with mindset, and the impossible really can be possible. 💙📖
We are proud of our team for leading by example and inspiring students to discover the stories, knowledge, and opportunities that books can bring.

Meet Marjorie L., one of our inspiring ESOL students at Clay ACE! Marjorie comes to class with a great attitude and a bright smile that motivates everyone around her. She has excellent attendance, truly enjoys learning, and is a joy to teach.
When asked what she loves about ACE, Marjorie said: “I like everything. I like the students and the teacher. I like learning.” 💙
Her dreams are big—she plans to attend the university to study accounting once she masters English. In her free time, she enjoys reading women’s stories and women’s history, which fuel her passion for education and personal growth.
A special thank-you to her teacher, Mrs. Resiga, for her guidance and encouragement in helping Marjorie achieve her goals. Together, they are proof of the power of learning and determination. 📚✨
