As our students return to class tomorrow morning after Winter Break, it’s the perfect time for a quick refresher on getting to school safely. Whether you walk, ride, or drive, we all play a part in keeping our school community safe.
Check out these tips to help us all arrive safe:
🚶 WALK SAFE! - Heads Up, Phone Down! Use sidewalks and cross only at corners and crosswalks. Look LEFT-RIGHT-LEFT before crossing. Be seen!
🚲 RIDE SAFE! (Bikes, E-Bikes, & E-Scooters) - Helmet On: It’s the LAW for riders under 16. Obey all stop signs and traffic lights. Ride with traffic and stay bright! Yield to walkers on the sidewalk.
⚡ E-Riders: You are fast and quiet. Drivers don't always expect you—be extra alert and slow down at intersections!
🚌 BUS SAFE! - Wait in a safe place well away from the road. Board or cross ONLY when the driver gives you the "OK" signal. Stay seated and keep the aisle clear.
Drivers: Please review the "School Bus Safety Rules" graphic below so you know exactly when you MUST stop! 🛑
🚗 DRIVE SAFE! - Slow down, especially in school zones. Look twice for kids at every intersection, driveway, and crosswalk. Give bikes 3 feet! Put the phone away and focus on the road.
Let's work together to make the first day back a safe one. Share this post with your students and neighbors to help spread the word!
We can't wait to see you tomorrow! ✨

We had a truly insightful and heartwarming Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Lunch and Learn yesterday, hosted by Mr. Broskie, his Cabinet, and ESE Staff!
A massive and heartfelt thank you to our incredible ESE teachers and staff, led by Director, Dr. Melanie Sanders, for joining us. We deeply appreciate the valuable, dedicated work you do every single day to support our students. Your commitment truly makes a profound difference in the lives of children and families across Clay County.
It was wonderful to sit down and learn firsthand about your crucial initiatives and successes. We received an excellent overview of the team’s work and celebrated the continuing success in student outcomes, including exceeding the graduation rate for Students With Disabilities (SWD) and the impactful LIFE PATH transition program. This work is reinforced by the team's ongoing commitment to supporting staff through valuable professional learning, such as the ESE Summer Summit.
We will continue collaborating to provide every student with the best possible educational experience.

Superintendent Broskie delivered a substantial collection of donated supplies to the Safe Animal Shelter yesterday. This successful drive, supported by administrators across the district, resulted in a large donation of pet food, essential supplies, and toys.
The staff at the Safe Animal Shelter were thrilled and appreciative of the delivery. We were especially delighted to see that a former CCDS student and member of the Superintendent's Student Advisory Council is now working full-time at the shelter! It is wonderful to see our graduates making an impact in the community.
Thank you to all our CCDS administrators for their involvement in this important effort!
