The future of STEM is shining bright in Clay County! 🧪✨

Yesterday morning, the Clay County Fairground was transformed into a hub of innovation for our Rotary Science and Engineering Fair. From testing acoustic effects on ant behavior to investigating the "Best Way to Make Boba," our students’ creativity and scientific rigor were on full display. Superintendent Broskie had a blast touring the exhibits, chatting with our young researchers, and seeing firsthand the hard work that went into every hypothesis and experiment.

This event was made possible through the leadership of our District Science Specialist, Katie Ruelas, with the help of dedicated teachers, district specialists, leaders, and student volunteers who worked behind the scenes to ensure a smooth experience for everyone.

🙌 A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Judges
We want to extend a special thank you to the many community members who volunteered their time and expertise to serve as judges. Our students benefit immensely from your professional feedback and encouragement. This event truly thrives because of your willingness to give back and mentor the next generation of innovators—we simply couldn't do it without you!

📅 Save the Date: Awards Night
The results are in, and it’s time to celebrate! Please join us as we honor our young scientists and announce this year’s winners.

When: Tuesday, February 10th

Time: 6:00 PM

Where: Ridgeview High School Cafeteria

We'll see you there to cheer on our brilliant students! 🏆

School Counselors Amplify Student Success 🔊✨

This week, Clay County District Schools is proud to celebrate National School Counseling Week. Our counselors are more than just academic advisors—they are listeners, advocates, and bridge-builders.

Whether it’s navigating a tough day, planning for a bright future, or simply providing a safe space to be heard, our counselors work daily to "amplify" the potential in every child they meet.

To our CCDS Counseling Team: Thank you for your tireless heart, your patience, and your dedication to the well-being of our students. We are so grateful for the impact you make across our district!

Help us show our counselors some love! "Heart" this post to send a huge thank you to the counseling team at your school! 🔗💙

🐝 The 2026 Clay County District Spelling Bee 🐝

There was definitely a "buzz" in the air at Lake Asbury Junior High as we hosted the 2026 Clay County District Spelling Bee! Our brilliant students really minded their P’s and Q’s (and every other letter in the alphabet) through 20 incredible rounds of competition.

Please join us in celebrating our top three spellers who were simply the bee's knees:

🏆 Champion: Juliana N. – Lakeside Junior High
🥈 Runner-Up: Emma H. – Fleming Island Elementary
🥉 Second Runner-Up: Isabella P. – Thunderbolt Elementary

👏 A Hive of Support
A huge thank you to Superintendent Broskie, Chief of Elementary Heather Teto, and Board Members Beth Clark and Michele Hanson for presenting the awards and cheering on our students.

A giant thank you to Principal Lydia Creel and the Lake Asbury Junior High staff for being such wonderful hosts. This competition wouldn’t have been possible without the "un-bee-lievable" hard work of our organizer, Rebecca Billiot.

We also want to recognize our Pronouncer, Heather Meadows, and our expert judges, Amanda Strickland, Stephanie Navarro, and Melanie McIver. Together with our team of District specialists and leaders, they made this day a "sweet" success for all our students!

💛 Show Your Support!
Our students worked bee-yond hard to prepare for this day. Give this post a LIKE to show your support for all of our amazing participants!

February Celebrations

🎶 A Night of Harmony: Celebrating our 26th Annual All-County Elementary Chorus!

Last night, the stage was set for a milestone of melody as Clay County District Schools presented our 26th Annual All-County Elementary Chorus concert. Under the masterful direction of our amazing Clay County Elementary Music Teachers, hundreds of our brightest young stars filled the air with music that touched every heart in the audience.

Our students rose to the occasion, performing a challenging repertoire that spanned from the classical beauty of Mozart’s "Alleluia Canon" to the rhythmic energy of "Thula Klizeo." They truly lived up to the evening's finale, proving that they really do "Shine Like Stars."

Highlights of the Evening:
Artistry in Motion: From the wisdom of "Three Quotes by Mark Twain" to the uplifting spirit of "If You’re Happy/Amen," our students showcased incredible talent.

Special Guest Performance: We were honored to host Alex Kirk, whose performance of the "Concertino in Eb Major" on trombone was a masterclass in musicality for our young performers.

Exceptional Accompaniment: We were privileged to have Rachel Letter Clifton as our 2026 Accompanist. Her performance provided a wonderful foundation for our students' voices and was a joy to witness.

Teachers Leading by Example: One of the most touching moments was the performance of "This is Why We Sing" by our very own Clay County Elementary Music Teachers. Seeing our educators share their own voices was a powerful reminder of the passion that fuels our arts programs every day.

To our students: Your dedication, practice, and courage on that stage were inspiring. You represented your schools and our district with such talent and grace!

To our music educators: Thank you for the countless hours of preparation and for your unwavering commitment to student success. You don't just teach music; you give our children a voice.

🎺 A Night of Musical Excellence: All-County Honor Band 2026

What a breathtaking performance! This past Thursday night, the Thrasher-Horne Center was filled with the incredible sounds of our very own Clay County students during the All-County Honor Band Concert.

From the intricate woodwind melodies to the powerful resonance of the brass and percussion, our Junior and Senior High musicians demonstrated exactly why the performing arts are the heartbeat of our schools. These students didn't just play notes; they poured their hearts into every measure, showcasing the discipline, teamwork, and passion they’ve cultivated all year.

🌟 Celebrating Our Student Artists
The performing arts provide more than just music—they build confidence, foster community, and offer a creative outlet that lasts a lifetime. Seeing these talented individuals from across the district come together under the baton of world-class conductors was a reminder of the amazing things that happen when we support the arts.

A huge thank you to:

The Students: For your countless hours of practice and dedication.

The Band Directors: For your tireless mentorship and leadership.

The Parents & Families: For your unwavering support of your child’s musical journey.

🎈 A Brand New Space to Dream and Play at Argyle Elementary! 💙🤍

The wait is over, Pioneers! We are so proud to officially announce the opening of the brand-new Argyle Elementary playground. 👏

🎀 This morning’s ribbon-cutting ceremony was a beautiful celebration of our school community. The highlight of the event was hearing from Mia, a student who has been part of the Argyle family since Pre-K. Mia shared a heartfelt speech about what this new space means to the students before officially picking up the scissors to cut the ribbon. Seeing a student who has grown up in these halls lead the way made the occasion truly special.

We were honored to have Superintendent David Broskie, School Board Member Erin Skipper, and School Board Member Beth Clark in attendance to support this project and celebrate with our families.

A huge thank you to Principal Mary Dorsch, Assistant Principals Dr. Casey Leone and Olivia Smith, and our incredible district and school staff. It took a village of dedicated parents, educators, and leaders to bring this vibrant new play area to life.

From the first climb to the highest swing, we can't wait to see the years of friendship and fun that will happen right here. Congratulations, Argyle!
