Celebrate Red Ribbon Week with us!

Nationally, Red Ribbon Week is observed October 23-October 31. We will be condensing nine days of fun into five by celebrating October 26-30.

This year's theme is "Be A Hero. Stay Drug Free."

Here is our plan for making positive, healthy choices for our minds and
bodies for a lifetime:

Monday 10/26 - Tynes Heroes are RED-y to be Drug Free - Red Day
Everyone is invited to wear red as we kick off Red Ribbon Week.

Tuesday 10/27 - Be Kind to Your Mind and Body, Drug Free - Pink Day
Since Tuesdays in October also celebrate cancer awareness, everyone in Tiger Country is encouraged to wear pink.

Wednesday 10/28 - Better Together, Drug and Bully-Free - Friends Day
Students and all staff are invited to dress alike with friends. This is meant to be a large-group activity with everyone having the opportunity to be included.

Thursday 10/29 - Heroes Switch Roles - Role Reversal Day
On this date, students are invited to dress like teachers, and teachers are invited to dress like students.

Friday 10/30 - Be Your Own Hero, Stay Drug Free - Heroes Day
To close out our week, all faculty and staff are encouraged to wear the shirt of their favorite hero. Students NOT participating in grade-level costume events are also invited to wear their favorite hero shirt.

Please note that all clothing/costumes remain subject to dress code requirements.

On November 3, Clay County voters will consider the renewal of the existing One Mill ad valorem funding for four years (July 1, 2027 – June 30, 2031).

Because this measure is a renewal of the existing operating millage, it continues current funding without increasing tax rates. Revenues are strictly dedicated to two operational priorities:

School Safety: Funding law enforcement contracts for campus officers.

Employee Compensation: Providing competitive pay to retain and attract quality teachers and support staff.

All expenditures are subject to review by an independent Citizens’ Oversight Committee. Visit oneclay.net/renewal for more information.

Ms. Deaton’s 6th Grade ELA classes made a visual arts project comparing the two settings of their science fiction story, The Sand Castle, to show how the setting impacts the characters’ actions. In this story, the ozone layer has depleted, and the beach looks much different than what you and I are used to today. This was an open-ended task, and the resulting 2D and 3D projects are on display in our media center. Great work, students!

The One Mill Renewal on the November 3 ballot provides the dedicated local funding to sustain key law enforcement partnerships with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Green Cove Springs Police Department, and Orange Park Police Department. This continued funding ensures that a sworn, dedicated School Resource Officer (SRO) is stationed on every traditional public and eligible charter school campus every day.

⚡ Charge Into Fire Safety! ⚡

It’s Fire Prevention Week, and this year’s theme is all about safe charging! As technology plays a big role in our everyday lives, we are reminding our OneClay community that safe charging is a superpower.

🔌 Plug in. Power up. Stay safe.

To keep our homes and schools safe, make sure you are using your 6 Charging Superpowers:

• Cheap charger? Don't chance it. Use the cord and charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.

• Soft surface? Hard pass. Charge on a hard, flat surface like a table, desk, or bare floor.

• Fully charged? Time to unplug. Unplug your device when it is fully charged.

• For tools and rides, charge outside. Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside when possible, and never block exits when charging.

• Feels hot? Stop using it. Stop using your device if it feels very hot, starts to swell, smells strange, leaks, smokes, or makes popping or hissing sounds.

• On a flight? Keep it in sight. Keep devices where you can see them while charging on an airplane, and tell a flight attendant if you notice a problem.
