⚡ Charge Into Fire Safety! ⚡

It’s Fire Prevention Week, and this year’s theme is all about safe charging! As technology plays a big role in our everyday lives, we are reminding our OneClay community that safe charging is a superpower.

🔌 Plug in. Power up. Stay safe.

To keep our homes and schools safe, make sure you are using your 6 Charging Superpowers:

• Cheap charger? Don't chance it. Use the cord and charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.

• Soft surface? Hard pass. Charge on a hard, flat surface like a table, desk, or bare floor.

• Fully charged? Time to unplug. Unplug your device when it is fully charged.

• For tools and rides, charge outside. Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside when possible, and never block exits when charging.

• Feels hot? Stop using it. Stop using your device if it feels very hot, starts to swell, smells strange, leaks, smokes, or makes popping or hissing sounds.

• On a flight? Keep it in sight. Keep devices where you can see them while charging on an airplane, and tell a flight attendant if you notice a problem.

🌟 Superintendent’s Junior High Super Student of the Month: Rory W. 🌟

Let’s give a massive round of applause to Rory W., an outstanding 7th grader at Green Cove Springs Junior High! Stepping into junior high can be a big adjustment, but Rory has hit the ground running at GCJ with incredible determination and energy.

Rory has excelled right out of the gate by earning straight A's in her rigorous Pre-AICE courses during her very first month. On top of her academic success, she is already showing impressive leadership as the flag football team's starting quarterback, throwing three touchdown passes to lead GCJ to a season-opening win against WJH! Most importantly, Rory balances advanced academics and athletics with genuine kindness and integrity. Her exceptional character makes her a true leader both in the classroom and on the field.

Congratulations, Rory! Please show your support by hitting the Like button to help us celebrate this amazing student leader!
