Food and Freight: A Sweet Lesson in Survival 🍬🥨

Ms. Walker's students didn't just learn about dates and battles; they explored the practical realities of life during the war, including how soldiers and civilians ate and traveled. They discovered what soldiers ate on the march—often hardtack, a bland, flour-and-water cracker—and the challenges of transporting supplies across a vast country. To bring these lessons to life, your class faced a delicious challenge: building their own wagons! wagon wheels! 🚂

With just graham crackers for the wagon bed, marshmallows for the passengers, cookies for the wheels, and icing to hold it all together, the students had to collaborate and problem-solve to overcome some very sticky obstacles. It's a fantastic way to learn about the ingenuity and resilience needed to survive in a time of great hardship. 👏
