Superintendent Announces New Director of Operations, Safety, and Security
Superintendent Addison Davis announced John Ward as the new Director of Operations, Safety, and Security. Ward currently serves as the Director of the Clay County Division of Emergency Management and brings an extensive history of emergency management to Clay County District Schools.
In 2008, Ward joined Clay County Emergency Management where he led the work as the Deputy Director and then through his hard work and dedication, was appointed as the lead Director. In addition, Ward serves on many state committees and organizations pertaining to emergency planning, disaster response, and recovery. Through state recognized programs developed by Ward, he was acknowledged as Florida’s Professional Emergency Manager of the Year. Along with many other positions, Ward holds the incident commander position for the State of Florida incident management team, which is designed to provide support to other states with the goal of assisting the local government in managing large events that impact their communities.
Prior to joining Clay County Emergency Management, Ward worked over 20 years in the fire rescue services in Clay County. During his time with fire rescue, Ward held many positions. Ward is an active citizen in Clay County and is excited about this new journey. Ward graduated from American Military University where he received a bachelor in Emergency and Disaster Management.
Ward starts his new position in May and will be taking the place of Bruce Harvin, who retires in April.
