Keystone Heights Elementary School recognized as a 2018 – 2019 ECTAC Exceeding Expectations Title I School

Keystone Heights Elementary School has been identified as a 2018–2019 ECTAC Exceeding Expectations Title I School.

The East Coast Technical Assistance Center (ECTAC) provides technical assistance to a collaborative network of school districts regarding selective programs contained in the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), reauthorized as the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

In 2012, ECTAC launched the Exceeding Expectations (E2) Project. This project identifies Title I schools that are exceeding expectations by showing significant progress in improving student achievement, using criteria based on school grade data obtained from the FDOE database. These schools are then visited by a team of ECTAC members for interviews and classroom observations. Based upon criteria consisting of Florida State Assessment scores and site visit observations and interviews, schools are identified as either a Finalist, or an Award School.

Keystone Heights Elementary School will be visited by the E2 evaluators in January or February of 2019, and while we are confident that the school will be selected as a Finalist, we are proud of their accomplishments thus far in be being recognized for consideration. As a select school, the KHE administrators and lead teachers are invited to attend the Title I Exceeding Expectations Conference in October, 2019.  This 2-day conference will provide an opportunity to celebrate the academic successes of the select schools, as well as opportunities for schools to present their strategies, share in professional development, and network with schools from all districts in the state of Florida.

Not only is this an outstanding acknowledgement of the successes of Keystone Heights Elementary School; it is also an excellent opportunity for recognition for Clay County District Schools. Since the inception of this award in 2012, only four North Florida districts have been recognized.
