Degrees and Certifications:
Principal Mallory Mcconnell
Dear Students, Parents, and Community Members,
Welcome to Lakeside Junior High School! I feel incredibly privileged to be your principal, and I am beyond excited to work with each of you as we grow throughout this year. I have enjoyed meeting so many of the incredible families in our community and feel extremely fortunate for this opportunity to work with your children!
Prior to coming to the Clay County School District, I was a 6th - 12th grade classroom choral director, a National Honor Society and Student Government Association sponsor, musical and drama director, and more! I served as the Assistant Principal of Curriculum in a nearby county for two years prior to my promotion as Principal of the same middle school. I served most recently in that role for the past three years. I have a strong background in data analysis, effective instructional practices and classroom management strategies.
Please know the Lakeside staff is dedicated to ensuring that every student receives instruction that meets their individual academic needs in a safe and supportive school environment. Our Lakeside staff takes great pride in interactions with students and families. Building positive relationships with all stakeholders is of great importance to me as well. Please feel free to email or call me; I will always be available to you during the school year.
As we partner together for this school year, we will need your help! Our commitment to you is to keep our focus on teaching and learning. You can help us by making sure students arrive to school on time, each day. Our school day begins at 9:30am and ends at 3:42pm. Please make all efforts to schedule any student appointments before or after school hours to ensure that your child receives a full day's instruction.
Throughout the school year, please make sure to keep the lines of communication open with your child’s teacher. She/he will always be your first contact for any questions or concerns you may have. Parents and teachers working together will increase your child’s success, while also serving as a great model for students as to how to work effectively as a team. The junior high years are critical in the lives of our students. During a time you want to allow your student to spread their wings and “fly,” I encourage you to still remember they need you as an active member of their educational journey.
I look forward to making this a very successful year for everyone as we work to provide a high-quality education that supports the academic, social, and emotional needs of our students! Go Gators!
Mallory McConnell, Principal
