Through the combined efforts of the Florida Department of Transportation’s District 2 and 50 local private sector sponsors, hundreds of Clay County high school students will gain hands-on experience and learn more about career opportunities in transportation, construction and engineering at the annual Northeast Florida Construction Career Day event. The program also makes scholarship opportunities available to students in attendance. In 2016, two students from Clay High School and four students from the Florida Youth Challenge Academy at Camp Blanding were recipients of scholarships for college and vocational/apprenticeship programs after participating in Construction Career Day.
