Today Clay County School District released a list of the Teacher of the Year and School-Related Employee of the Year nominees from each of the 41 schools in the district. Each nominee was selected by his or her school colleagues and represents a leader in accelerating student achievement.
“As we embark on the journey to ‘Elevate Clay’, I am grateful to lead a team that includes teachers and support employees which will elevate academic experiences for our students, and create a climate and culture that is collaborative, transparent, and child-centric,” said Superintendent Addison Davis. “Please join me in congratulating each of these individuals for the excellence they bring to our schools each day, and for earning this recognition from their colleagues.”
Two winners will be selected by a panel of district and school administrators, along with local business organizations. The nominees will be honored and winners will be announced at a banquet at the Thrasher-Horne Center in January. The two winners will go on to represent Clay County at statewide competitions this spring. The banquet will take place at the following time and location:
WHEN: Tuesday, January 24
WHERE: Thrasher-Horne Center for the Arts
283 College Drive
Orange Park, FL 32065

"I offer my deepest congratulations to this year's Teacher of the Year nominees,” said Jessica Ehlinger, a first-grade teacher at Ridgeview Elementary School and the incumbent Clay County Teacher of the Year. “Being chosen by their peers and administration for this honor is a testament to the incredible work they do with students everyday. I can't wait to get to know each nominee and see how this recognition empowers them to grow as teacher leaders improving outcomes for every student, every day."
"Last year was the best year of my life," said John Davis, a computer lab assistant at W.E. Cherry Elementary School and the incumbent School-Related Employee of the Year. "The honor W.E. Cherry bestowed on me was heartfelt, especially seeing our Cherry Pickers, our school bluegrass band, playing the night I won. I cannot tell you enough about the love and support I received from my WEC family and students."
